...Has "Hope and Faith" taken a BIG-TIME nosedive in overall quality this season?
I don't think that the show was EVER a "classic", but at least last year it was a cute show that killed a half-hour rather harmlessly on a Friday night. However, NOW the show has taken on a super-sleazy tone, and the characters are a LOT more crude and annoying than they were last season.....especially Kelly's "Faith" character! Last year Faith was ditzy, but you couldn't help but like her, but this year she seems coarse and rather slutty. Is it just my imagination, or has this series changed...and not for the better? |

I love the show---yes some of it has changed, but not totally for the bad...My favorite stars are Ted McGinley and Kelly Ripa, but they seem to be making Faith Ford more annoying and having as was called in a recent episode,"empty nest syndrome".

Hope and Faith has lost more viewers than any returning show from last season. I doubt it will have a Season 3.

I have seen a episode or two and I agree it does have a foolish ttheme this year. I did hear that Cheryl Ladd will appear as Faith and Hope's mother. I don't see that a good casting. Robert Wagner as their dad who has fondness for Jenny Mccarthy. I think the whole show is foolish. I would hate to be Kelly's kids and have a mom act like that. I was sad to see Nicole Pagi leave( she played Hope's oldest daughter. She looked just like Faith Ford.

True, the storylines are worse, Ted McGinley has never been funny, Megan Fox is horrible, Faith is more likeable as as ditzy than sleazy, but the women still get to do some great physical comedy and sightgags which few other shows are doing. But if it's cancelled, it won't be missed.
The problem is if tv execs don't see a show landing in the top twenty (almost impossible for a new show) they redo it, sex it up, ruin it, watch the ratings plummet, and cancel it. They should have the patience to let a show build an audience as the writers/director/cast know more about what's funny than some suit. |

I thought the two part episode where Robert wagner's character bedmate Jenny Mccarthy was to have the baby was foolish and a bit crude. I wonder if Jaclyn Smith was hard up for money. I thought the show was below her ability as an actress. She should stick to selling clothes at the new sears/Kmart stores.

I just recently started watching this show over the past few weeks. Being a new viewer, I don't think the show is bad at all and I am actually enjoying it. I wished that I would have seen some episodes from last season to make a comparison.

I don't watch at all...partly because I'm never home, but the new eps I've seen sucked. The storylines aren't nearly as good as last season and Meagan Fox is way to old to be 16..plus she annoys the hell out of me

I still enjoy watching this show and I think that Kelly does a great job on it! However I don't like Megan Fox.

Show is improving, but I miss Nicole Paggi. I recently saw her on an episode of Quintuplets on Fox,and I think she looks 16.

I like this show, but I want to love it -- and the reason I can't is the often-pedestrian writing. Faith Ford, Kelly Ripa and yes, Ted McGinley are pros who outshine the scripts they're given them. Bringing in a wide array of guest stars (including Regis et al) livens things up a bit and provides an array of in-jokes, but it still comes down to the writing...which, more often than not, is mediocre.
