Funny how so few of these actors have been in anything high profile since this series ended. There was a rumor (false) that Daryl Bell had died.
I wonder if a lack of quality roles for black actors is a reason why more of these performers haven't been in more prominent roles? The guy who played Mr Gaines was on the Anthony Anderson WB sitcom last season. Kadeem Hardison has been in a lot of projects but it is remarkable how many of them were unsuccessful. |

People did an update on some of the cast circa 2001. I don't think they mentioned Charnele Brown, who played Kim. Kim was a likeable, intelligent character who was shown as hardworking...unlike so many of the black female characters we see on TV. How many times do we hear about black females trying to become doctors? Rarely.
Cree Summer is making good money doing voice characters...I heard somewhere that one makes more doing voice acting than physical acting. Probably because it takes more effort to convey actions/emotions with simply your voice, as opposed to your whole body. None of the characters were stereotypical, and that's what I like about this show. |

Also, Jasmine wrote a great book about the life of Afeni Shakur called Eveloution of a Revolutionary about a year ago. Charnele was in a gospel play called sneaky in the late nineties.
The girl that played Charmaine does the voice of Dijonay for Disney's The Proud Family. Mr gaines also had a part in HBO flim Lackawana Blues. Of course we all know where Jada is. Jennifer Lewis who played the Dean guest stars on various shows like Girlfriends ans playing everybody's mama in flims like the preache's wife, the temptations, what's love got to do with it. starred the tilte role in nora's hair shop and will appear in the upcoming Tyler Perry flim Madea's Family reunion in late Feb. Now the people you really don't hear much about is Charnele,(like she just vanished) AJ Sanders,Dawn Lewis, Bumper Robinson, the guy that played his friend. Not to much of Sinbad either. But you will catch a brother once in a blue moon. |

Cree Summer has been doing a great job as the voice Foxxy Love, a cross between the Pam Grier Blaxploitation characters and Josie And The Pussycats, on Drawn Together
I think Sinbad has gone back to stand-up fulltime, he came to town not too long ago |

Bumper Robinson, who played Dorian on ADW, will be appearing in a Hallmark channel movie next month called Jane Doe: Yes, I Remember It Well. He was also in a season 1 episode of CSI:NY that's now available on dvd.

I received this bit of info in my email yesterday. It is from a website to which I receive alerts...Info on SINBAD:
TRIVIA: Finalist in Ed McMahon's "Star Search" (1983) talent contest for stand-up comedy. Lost to comedian and Crypt Keeper voice, John Kassir in the final round. Sinbad won his round against fellow comedian Dennis Miller Toured with the Air Force Tops in Blue program, which is a program of active duty Air Force members who perform shows around the world. Played college basketball at the University of Denver, but athletic career was ended by an injury. Sinbad served in the US Air Force. He was almost dismissed with a dishonorable discharge for various misbehavior including going AWOL. In 2004 he was named the #78 greatest stand-up comic of all time on "Comedy Central Presents: 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time". Actor Mark Curry credits Sinbad and Bill Cosby for helping convince him not to commit suicide. Sinbad was responsible for discovering R&B trio 702; convincing their parents to let him take them to a music convention/ competition, under the name "Sweeta than Suga", eventually being heard by music producer Michael Bivins (he's the Biv in Bell, Biv, Devoe). WHERE IS HE NOW: Sinbad, has been in the news a great deal in the last couple of months. This is due to a USO trip he took in 1996 to Bosnia. This is the 'infamous' trip that Hillary Clinton has described as harrowing, where she was under sniper-fire. In an interview, Sinbad said the "scariest" part of the trip was wondering where he'd eat next. "I think the only 'red-phone' moment was: 'Do we eat here or at the next place.'" Threat of bullets? Sinbad doesn't remember that, either. "I never felt that I was in a dangerous position. I never felt being in a sense of peril, or 'Oh, God, I hope I'm going to be OK when I get out of this helicopter or when I get out of his tank.'" This kind of spurred Sinbad on to become an Obama supporter and to defend Obama in the war over foreign policy credentials. He also just hosted The Golden Trailer Awards, which honors the best of those mini-movies that preview coming attractions. The ceremony will air May 26th on MyNetwork TV In a bit of bad news for Sinbad, word is he owes $2.1 million to the state of California, according to the California Franchise Tax Board.
