Today I found this in the newspaper on the winning streaks in all of sports.

Baseball-26 games 1916 New York Giants

No team has won more than 21 in a row since 1935(Chicago Cubs). The longest recent streak is 20 set by the 2002 Oakland Athletics.

Football-20 games 2003 and 2004 New England Patriots(current)

And the winner of all sports is:

Basketball-33 games 1972 Los Angeles Lakers

The next longest streaks in basketball is 20 set by 2 teams--the Washington Bullets in parts of 2 seasons in 1948 and the Milwaukee Bucks in 1971.

It's subjective, but that Patriots streak might be more impressive than the Baseball Giants 26 game streak. 20 straight wins in football, including playoff games, is a full season and then some (I think?) without losing. That's something.
