I was recently re-watching some episodes from the 1st season when I came across the case of Kathy Hobbs...I searched the message board and am surprised that we've never talked about this haunting episode before. For those of you unfamiliar with the case Kathy was a 16 year old girl living in Las Vegas who disappeared on July 23, 1987 after buying a paperback book from the local convenience store. She was later found dead in the desert, having been beaten with a rock. The only lead the police had was a phone message they received 3 months later from a man who claimed to have seen Kathy's abduction.
Strangely, Kathy had always had a premonition that she would never live to see her 16th birthday (actually she made it to 16 years, 3 months and 3 days). After her death her family even found letters addressed to each one of them (dated one month before her 16th birthday) asking them not to grieve for her when she was gone. I assume there have been no new leads on this case, as I cannot find any info online (maybe someone else will have better luck than me). What always stuck with me is that this case is almost a combination of two other UM cases: Carrie Lynn Nixon (who was murdered after making a purchase at a conveinence store) and Tracey Kirkpatrick (who, in reading a poem to her family, seemed to have a premonition about her own untimely death). I just thought Kathy's case deserved some time in our thoughts, because (as the Eygptians believe) to say one's name after their death is to make them live again...

I work with Tracey's Uncle. Authorities speculate her murderer was a security guard. A foreigner, that has left the U.S.A. .

What I could not understand, was how/why she know/though she was going to die before she was 16? Was someone harrassing her or something?

If I remember correctly, no one was harrassing her. She just had an ominous feeling that she wouldn't live to turn 16. She did, but she was murdered within a few months of turning 16.

This case always creeped me out! Even thinking about it gives me the chills! And the scene where she is walking alone to the store to get that book...gets me everytime
