Default Why Did Ron Howard Leave Happy Days?

I was wondering why Ron Howard left Happy Days so abruptly in 1980. They briefly explained his depature. He never returned to even make a guest appearance until the last season... and the final episode of the show.

He left to do some directing for NBC.

Ron came back for a couple episodes later on in 1982 & the finale (where Joanie & Chachi get married) in 1984. Yes, he left ABC to direct for NBC, watch the Ron Howard A&E Biography or the HD A&E Biography or the Ron Howard book that is out @ bookstores or Amazon.com.

Ron Howard's departure signified a major shark jump for Happy Days. Donny Most also left the show.

That's why if I get the DVDs, I'll stop at season seven. It was horrible after that. Not the show I grew up with, that's for sure. Too bad they didn't just end it there.

Ron Howard left because he was getting into directing. That, and I believe he was starring in a movie during that time, too. I think.

Why's that? Why that particular year 1995? Or do you mean 1965 because that was when the setting took place in CA for L&S.

Actually, both shows went bad the same year, 1980. Ron and Donny left HD and L&S up and moved to Californ-i-a.

If I ever do get the Happy Days DVDs, I will definitely stop with season seven.
