Stuff Other Shows Got From "Taxi" - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

-Carla Tortelli (Cheers) is the female version of Louie DePalma. Which is okay, I guess, since both shows were done by the same people.

-Kramer (although based off a real guy) from "Seinfeld" is similar to Jim Ignatowski. In that his hair sticks up and has a similar voice and both a little flaky.

-Joey Tribianni from "Friends" is a mixture of Bobby Wheeler (struggling actor/womanizer) and Tony Banta (Italian and dumb). They even had Joey get a role on a soap opera. Of course, Bobby was in a soap opera. They were both killed off their respected soaps.

-Multiple Personalities. Latka changed personalities to many different characters, mainly the super cool Vic Ferrari. In the 1990's on "Family Matters", Steve Urkel also had a habit of changing personalities. The only difference was Latka had a mental problem and Urkel had a machine.

Any others to add?

I always compared Louie Depalma and Carla Tortelli Lebec as very similar characters.

Its intresting you should say that about rhea perlmans character on cheers being the female version of danny devitos louie depalma on taxi, because devito and perlman are married husband and wife for quite sometime now, and she played louies girlfriend on taxi as well
