Default Joey and the Husband 10/21/04

Victor, the Russian owner of the salon that Gina works at, tells all of her clients that she is vacationing, and instead sends them to his daughter who isn’t very good with hair. Alex’s husband Eric, who plays in an orchestra, thinks that his wife hanging out with a single guy (Joey) is weird, so Joey visits Gina at her salon to ask her about it. Later when Joey meets the husband in the hot tub, Eric mentions that Joey doesn’t threaten him at all. This upsets Joey, which leads to him into trying to make Eric jealous.

Tonight.

I still think having the audience never see the husband would be more interesting....

Yeah, but Eric is supposed to be a recurring character, and you can't really have the Joey/Alex/Eric love triangle without ever seeing one person. Well, you could, but it wouldn't be as interesting to watch.

Treu, but knowing NBC's penchant for stunt casting (especially during sweeps) I would have thought they would have gotten a big name guest star to play Alex's husband.

It's actually the "Joey" producers who make the casting decision, and NBC just approves it. That's why "Friends" never had the insane amount of guest stars (most of whom aren't even actors) that "Will & Grace" does.

The car gag was predictable but still got me laughing.
And the husband...he's not a big name after all, or at least not any name I know.

He appeared on "Good Morning Miami" last year.

Very solid episode.

Joey was a little dumber this time around, but not to the point of being unfunny. He had me cracking up when he was "seducing" Eric.

I missed Alex last week, so I was glad to see an episode with more of her in it.

It's pretty obvious now where they're going with Joey/Alex, but I just hope they stretch it out a little. Not to the insane Niles/Daphne length, but maybe three years or so.

I was shocked at how much was changed in the scenes in Gina's salon. There was a lot more of Viktor, including Joey and Michael going down to the salon to reason with him, and it was hilarious stuff. But the script pages I have come from an early draft, so that probably explains why there were so many changes.

I really enjoyed last night's episode. Alex's husband did nothing for me and I was disappointed that the role of Viktor was so small. However, it was a very funny episode.

I really feel there is no use for Alex's husband, that they gave her a husband just as an obstacle to Joey and Alex getting together
