Alright....I need your help. If you don't want to, I completely understand, because I hate this, and I wouldn't want to help myself, either.

Anyway. I'm supposed to have examples of times when people have had to rely on themselves. So....stories?

Um. Im not sure. Ive never had to really fully rely on just myself. I drove to Boston by myself, AND Rhode Island by myself

. As for Boston though, my mother kept offering to bring me, but I said I wanted to do it myself. As for Rhode Island, I didnt have a choice but to go by myself and I did it pretty well. But thats about it..

I used to run a ferry boat. It was an 18 foot aluminum motor boat with a 16 horse power outboard motor. Or maybe it was the other way around, lol. The deal was that every winter the low built summer bridge would go under the Eel river and be useless for the people who lived on the side of the river that was cut off from the county road. I ran the boat everyday of the winter for three winters to get these people back and forth across the river.

Most of the time the river was low and so it was no big deal. Sometimes though it would snow and rain heavely in the mountains, followed by heavy warm rains, which would melt the snowpack which caused flood level conditions almost overnight.

It was up to me to get these people back and forth across the river under those conditions. I did that several, several times and never capsized the boat. Sometimes I wondered why the people had the confidence in me to take them across safely. Sometimes I wasn't all that cocksure that we'd survive the crossing. There would be logs and debris bobbing in and out of view on the river that I had to look out for. There would be peaks and waves tossing us about all the way across. Usually, this all took place in terrential rains. Wild!
