Gilbert seem to be the more con-man and Larry seems to be the more mischeivous. Tey are both sneaky in their own way.

They are both sneaky but I always feel Larry was the better friend to Beaver.

I guess so. Everytime Beaver got in trouble, Gilbert ran.

I always liked Larry better. Besides, once Larry left the show so didn't Mrs. Mondello---and I always got a kick out of her character on the show

Gilbert. Larry bugged me almost as much as Judy.

I liked Larry. He seemed like a real kid. Also I agree with 1954 Boomer that Mrs. Mondello was a good character on the show.

Gilbert is kind of a brat, but Larry is way more annoying...he reminds me of a kid on my block when I was growing up.
Gilbert was a cutie though...I'd love to see a pic of him as a grown up!

Gilbert, although he appeared in a few eps with Larry, was somewhat the extension of Larry after he left. Richard evidently was thought of as 'Larry's replacement,' but he and Gilbert are so interchangeable that I think both of them were. Still, neither Gilbert nor Richard were particularly well-developed as individual characters; they were just there to continue the basic plotline of Beaver's friend(s) talking him into doing something against his better judgment, then leaving Beaver holding the bag.
Eddie and Lumpy, instead, were the more devloped individual characters. It is evident by the final 2 seasons that the producers and writers realized that more fully, and centered more of the action around Wally and "Creeps Inc." |

I always like Larry even though he did get Beaver into trouble a lot. And I really get a kick out of his mom, though she seems old enough to have been his Grandmother!
