Default The producers couldn't make up their mind...

...whether Tool Time was supposed to be live or taped.

Sometimes Tim will say "We're on live TV" or they'll show Jill at home watching it as it's happening.

Then other times they'll say "Cut!" or show them watching Tool Time at home together after it's taped.

What it was is Tim taped the show at home to have copies for himself, so the show was live unless Tim got badly hurt and they reran an old show

So them watching at home is the tape of Tim's where he taped it, Jill watched it to support his work

Oh, OK.

Most shows aren't live though, especially a cable show.

I don't think Jill was watching tapes.

In the ep where Tim had the Married Guys on Tooltime , and he began talking about Jill drooling. He was home , so it wasn't live , but I don't think Tim would have taped it , He wouldn't want Jill to see it :-/

When Tim would say its live , probably becuase it was infront of a Studio Audience , they were there then.

I always thought it was taped so the kids could watch it. In a lot of episodes it shows Mark watching it after school. Hmmm Guess we will never know.

This is an interesting question.

I'd never really given much thought to it before, but I guess I had always kind of gone with the assumption that the show aired live, but Tim would always tape it so he could watch it later himself (or other members of the family could watch it, if they so desired). This is why we see the show being viewed both "live" and "taped".
