Sad Help with lyric sites?

Being a music nut as well as a writer, I frequently want to better understand the lyrics to songs. However, many of the CD's I have do not include lyrics in the liner notes. So I have tried many online lyric sites--but have encountered an annoying and potentially dangerous problem. I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me of sites which do not deposite spyware (and possibly viruses) on your computer.

I do have a pop-up blocker and spyware remover, as well as anti-virus software, but of course they are not fool-proof. The site I considered to be the safest, in fact, has recently had the message "installing components" in the bar at the bottom of the screen--I have NO clue what that could mean, so I have been disconnecting and closing it immediately.

Can anybody help me find a safe site which covers music from jazz to rock, Motown to rap, and country to pop? Thanx mucho!

I am back again to request the help of anyone who knows of lyrics sites that are more secure from viruses and spyware than average. I also have pre-teen children who are beginning to want to buy their own music. So I am seeking to protect them from buying CDs with lyrics which might be offensive. Of course I know many albums are marked with "explicit lyrics" stickers or are flagged with that phrase on Amazon.com, but I am stricter than that LOL! I have daughters, and I don't want them listening to stuff that makes it sound as if they are only worth something if they are "hot"!

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

www.letssingit.com is my favorite. It has tons of popups, but my popup blocker takes care of it.

www.azlyrics.com is good as well.

I use www.plyrics.com for lots of the music I listen to....I don't know how much of the stuff on there would apply to your daughters though..

you should probably stop assuming that ANY websites are safe or free from spyware and actually take some preventative measures to protect your computer.

download and install SpywareBlaster and if you have XP, get Microsoft's Antispyware

you can download and install Mike's Hosts file to block known nasty sites, and make sure you install and KEEP UPDATED your Spybot and Ad-Aware

i am assuming that you have up-to-date firewall and antivrus programs installed...

Yes, I do have virus-, spyware- and ad-blocking software already--that's the problem. Even WITH such things, pop-ups keep coming up and on one occasion last year a virus was let in while I was on a lyric site. And every week when I run a spyware scan, there is no spyware found--UNLESS have been to a lyric site that week, it would seem. I could be wrong, but I tend not to believe in coincidence.

I am to the point where SO, IMDB, TV Tome, and a few things accessible through Yahoo are about the only sites I frequent anymore.

honestly, if you are installing, setting up and keeping them updated properly, you should NOT be seeing any of these things happen - and if you are STILL having problems switch to firefox or Opera.
