Thumbs down Brady Bunch SUCKS!

I am sorry and I don't mean to insult anyone, but I think the Brady bunch is so incredably unrealistic that I could die! I mean think about it! They are sooooo phony! Someone breaks a vase... Oh I'm so sorry!....Oh it's okay, we'll just buy a new one!. I mean hello! Sorry I just had to get that Off my back. If anyone agrees with me tell me what you think too!

If you look at Brady Buch for insight, you WILL be dissapointed. Look, the show ran from '69-72...look at everything that was going on in our country at the time, least of all the war. Brady Bunch at its best, was pure escapism.

How old are you T? Did you watch Brady Bunch in its first run or as reruns? That makes a huge difference. In reruns, you have got to at least appreciate it for its campiness.

I think this is the problem that Robert Reed had, was that he tried to make something so serious that at its core was just too light to bring to that direction. Which, of course, is why he made the show so good--he almost made it believable, that the Brady world could have existed when eveyhting else was crumbling.

I only got to see the Brady's as re-runs (born in '73), but I have always appreciated them in the same way I appreciate a good Pink Floyd album. It's not too entirely realistic, and becomes completely surreal at it's best moments. If you go digging, you can find deeper meaning to the episodes and the characters, but you don't really need to if you don't want. Heck, I even started up a cult based on Cousin Oliver! To check it out, click on my link to my home page and you can find a link to the Cult of COusin Oliver from there.

The Brady Bunch is to television what "Dark Side of the Moon" is to The Wizard of Oz (IMHO).

I won't say. Okay so maybe I am too young to really appreciate The Brady Bunch...But I think even if I was older it wouldn't mean anything. The show really just doesn't appeal to me. Ya sure they have good values and stuff but all the episodes are the same! Someone does something wrong they get in trouble and the prob is fixed. I have only seen reruns. I still don't see the point to the show. Just so long as you like it that's what matters. Everyone has different tastes. I don't mean to insult you or anything.

T, not insulted whatsoever. I am sorry it came across that way.

I do want to point out:
"Someone does something wrong they get in trouble and the prob is fixed."

This is every single show that has ever been on TV. And every book written for that matter!

I am a Happy Days fan. And I watched it in its first run. I can remember the exact outfit I was wearing when Mork showed up (only cause I spilled red soda all over it cause he scared the crap outta me).

Hey, this is kinda revealing my age, huh?

I can certainly understand the hesitation in wanting to appreciate the Brady's. Look at how clever and smart TV sitcoms have been written since. No one ever said Sherwood Schwartz was a TV genius. But he did seem to tap into what the viewing audience wanted.

See ya over in the Happy Days forum T!

"Are you like 40 or somethin?"

HEY! 33 and proud of it.

I have no idea how you find where those little emoticons are...I post on a couple of other Infopop boards and they use the same symbols. I only know 2 from memory:

= colon and right paranthesis

= colon and a capital D

I can get you the list if you can;t find it here.

I have no idea how to edit your profile. Maybe you should email TJ and he'll tell you.
