"Like somebody call the lamo patrol," said the cury haired Jennifer.
"It is nice to see that you remember us Jennifer," said Patty with a note of more then a little sarcasim in her voice . "Here I was worrying that you might have somehow forggoten us. And to think that there are actually people who think that you are self centered and thoughtless."
As Jennifer eyed Patty and Lauren like they were some unidentified form of bacteria, a boy in a tight blue t-shirt and jeans that looked like they hadn't seen a washing machine since last spring snuck up behind Jennifer and placed his hands over his eyes.
"Guess who," said the boy.
"Like gag me," said Jennifer pealing the hands of her boyfriend, Vinnie, from her eyes. "Vinnie, like I thought I told you to never sneak up on me like that."
"What's wrong doll face," asked Vinnie. "Did I give you a little scare?"
"Vinnie," said Jennifer with sarcasim, "that was so funny that I almost forgot to laugh."
Vinnie looked over at Patty and Lauren. Patty had just opened her locker and was beginning to take ber belongings out of the bag and put them into the locker. The moment Vinnie looked over in Patty's direction turned out to be the unlucky moment that she was pulling her infamous lunch box out from her bag. Both he and Jennifer laughed. Patty just ignored them and went on with her buisness. Vinnie and Jennifer turned their gazeful eyes over to Lauren.
"So how was your summer metal mouth," asked Vinnie.
"Fine, just fine," snapped Lauren as she began to unload the massive bag she always carried with her.
"Looks like someone gut up on the wrong side of the bed this morning," said Vinnie
"Yeah," said Jennifer, "like its our fault that she has a mouth full of tin."
"You know," said Vinnie to Lauren,"I was always wondering. Are your braces magnetic? Like if I was to take out my keys, would they stick to your face?"
Lauren ignored Jennifer and Vinnie's laughing. Finally Jennifer shut her locker and the class couple walked away.
"You know what Lauren," said Patty. "You were right about this year being different. Last year it took them slightly longer to reject us."
"Will you try to have a more possitive outlook, Patty. So, Jennifer and Vinnie still loath us. Well, there not the only popular kids in the school. You give up to easily. You remember that scene in Flashdance where Jennifer Beals is in front of all those judges? And when she started her dance routine and she slipped?"
"Yes"
"Well, she got back up, right?"
"Right"
"So now we've slipped and we have to get back up."
"Lauren, that was a movie. This is real life."
"If it isn't stringbean and fang," said a tall girl dressed in a plad skirt and knee socks. The girl was carrying a handful of flyers and handed on over to both Patty and Lauren.
"What is this for, Muffy," asked Lauren.
"It behooves me to say that as the president of the sophomore class and chairman of the Homcoming dance commitee, "said Muffy Tepperman," that I am in need of assistance from students to help make decorations for the dance. Just as with last year, a little bird told me that neither of you have anything better to do, and that Weemawee could count on you."
Patty and Lauren exchanged a look and before they could answer, the ultra peppy Muffy had moved on down the hallway and was handing out flyers to other students.
"So," said Patty,"are you ready to admit defeat yet?"
