Is this a good explanation for the disappearance of Julio from Sanford and Son?

In the episode when Julio and Fred merged there junk business, Julio made this statement-"Running a junk business is rough, especially when it's a one man operation." So since the merger with fred and lamont didn't work out, the junk business probably became too much for one man too handle and just decided to start a new life and relocate. What do you think?

That would have made a good explanation. They also could have made him go to Puerto Rico to care for a relative. Damn, that's an old explanation. They never did mention his exit, did they?

The closest thing I can remember was in the "Bank Robbery" ep., when Fred & Lamont were explaining why they needed the money to open up the Sanford Arms. After Lamont explained most of the expenses, Fred said something like:

"And the previous tenant was a Puerto Rican named Julio, so it's gonna cost us around $300 for chili stain remover!"

But that's just a mere mention of him, not an explanation for his departure.

Nope they never mentioned why he was no longer in the neighborhood. It was only mentioned that he no longer lived next door to the Sanfords but the reason why was never given.
