I bought the series earlier when the DVD's were 2 episodes per disc.
I noted a scene from Charlie X seemed trimmed. After Charlie is angered, he passes a group of laughing crewmen. He says something like"no laughing" and uses his power on them. As a close up of the faceless woman happens, there is a definite skip to the next scene. The score changes abruptly. Does anyone know if this occurs on the complete season 1 DVD box set? |

if Paramount is trimming episodes... they should trim prices too.
That is just wrong how much they gouge Trekkies on DVD, makes me happy that Buffy is as "geek" as I'll get over a tv show (tho I wanna get X-Files on DVD but used cheap for over 50% off retail prices) |

You're so right about that. Don't get me wrong - it's not a big cut but definitely there. It seems pointless for me to get the box set on top of the 40 disk, 2 episode ones if the cut is still there.

It's illogical to assume that not one person has bought the DVD season 1 box set and also reads this forum.
Just a quick "Yay: it's trimmed" or "Nay: it's as it was originally screened in the 60's"

maybe I'd consider blind-buying Trek (since I do like a lot of that genre, but while I've watched some Trek and liked it, have never watched any of the shows regularly) if the sets weren't so freaking astronomically priced. Paramount gouges Trek fans. I even have a problem paying 100 for X-Files sets.

I've actually tried that and thought I'd give another style forum a go. Seems no one can answer it. Thanks anyway.

I checked with some friends on another message board and was told that the scene you described appears on the Season One DVD set.

Thanks again...but I was referring to the length of the scene. There seems to be a definite skip in to the next scene on the "2 episodes a dvd" release I purchased last year.

Right. My buddy said the scene appears exactly as you describe, which I took to mean the scene is complete with the skip you talk about. I can ask about the exact length if you want.

ph1l, I have yet to get a response regarding the exact length of the scene in question but I was told, and I quote, "The transferrs for the boxed set are identical to the ones for the 2-episode volumes. They reportedly weren't remastered or edited in any way."

To set matters streight the scene from "Charlie X" on the DVD box set of season one has not been edited or trimmed, it plays exactly as it should.

Thanks Dax.
I hate to labour the point but did you compare your version to the other source (the earlier 2 ep a disc release). If so did you detect the trimming I'm referring to. |
