Default Which theme song was better?

Chico and the Man or Welcome Back, Kotter? I like both, but I'll take WBK. Only because I know all the words to it.

I'll go with the Chico and the Man theme.

It's one of only 2 theme songs that I'm aware of that hit #1 on the Billboard singles charts. The other being "Theme From S.W.A.T" by Rhythm Heritage. I was thinking there was at least one other but I can't pin it down.

Both themes had something going on there.

But it has to be WBK - because it's more of a well-known show and more familair with most audiences..

Then again I also like CatM - because of the music reflected on the show's charatcer and the Latino settings.

Well said. I picked the Chico theme because I find it more melodic.

You missed one - "How Do You Talk To An Angel" by The Heights (from the short-lived drama The Heights) went to #1 in the fall of 1992.

Sorry, According to Billboard, That song peaked at #3 the week of 11/28/1992. It was kept out of the #1 position by "I'd Die Without You" by P.M. Dawn & "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston.

Now I know what the 3rd one is. "Theme from Miami Vice" by Jan Hammer. It hit #1 the week of 11/09/1985

Hate to argue - but according to Billboard's Book of #1 Hits, the theme song from The Heights DID make #1.

Here is the Top Five the week of November 14, 1992

1. How Do You Talk To An Angel - The Heights
2. End of the Road - Boyz II Men
3. I'd Die Without You - PM Dawn
4. If I Ever Fall In Love - Shai
5. Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough - Patty Smyth w/Don Henley
