Default Why are criminals made into celebrities?

Why do we constantly make people who do wrong celebrities?

Recently Amy Fisher, remember her she shot Mary Jo Buttafucco in the head, because she was having a relationship with her husband. Anyway Ms. Fisher is now making the talk show circuit, saying that she was a victim, and has written a pity me tell all book.

I am really tired these people, who decide that they are going to do wrong, and then society makes them rich from their crimes by publishing their books and putting them on television. Does anyone every pay for a crime they committ anymore???

I believe in forgiveness, but does that mean that they can be later put on a pedestal an praised for their crimes??

I guess your right, because everyone seems to be fine with Vili Faulau and Mary Kay LaTourneau's crime. What a world.

Most people admire a show of strenght. Even if it is evil. Deep down people admire a criminal's show of strength.

The wife lived, but has a bullet from the shooting still in her neck. And I believe if the bullet shifts or moves could cause serious damage. Which is why I think it is sad that Amy is being made a celebrity and now people feel sorry for her. Mary Jo could become paralized because of her.

Have you sat down and actually watched a whole interview with her? I have infact I've seen 3 of them. She didn't write a tell all book is was a guide for parents so that their children won't make the same mistakes she has. She has grown up alot and she doesn't make excuses for it and takes the blame. I admire her for that and Mary Jo forgave her and that's all that matters.

Yes I have seen her interviews: Oprah, CBS This Morning, and today with Catherine Crier.

In my opinion, she is no differnt than any of the others who have committed crimes.

You say she has changed and that's all that matters, then why don't we give Mary Kay LaTourneau back her right to teach, she says she has changed too.

Because the public will watch interviews and things, the media may gave them alot of attention, but were the ones who watch, so the public is just as bad as the media IMO.

it's like a car wreck, you watch and can't take your eyes off it, same way with that, people are fascinated

Well, stories about criminals are interesting, I mean, why is Goodfellas considered one of the greatest movies of all time?

Crime is interesting, why do you think Law & Order and CSI are two of the most popular shows?
