Insignificant Others

Has anyone noticed that characters like Potsie and LoriBeth had no significane during the last 4 seasons?
Loribeth: I am glad that she was upgraded to star billing status, but the writers gave her less to do and did not have many lines. The only eps that I recall when she spoke more than 5 lines is when she needed $$ to go visit Richie in Greenland, her wedding day, her labor with little Richie, setting Potsie up with her roomate, and some others that I can't recall. Potsie unfortunately became excess baggage. He was seen less and less He didn't even appear in the last episode. It seemed like these two had more to do when Richie was around. I like the later shows better, but it also seems that Richie was the meat of the show.
