want to know your reason for choosing the Jeffersons as the better show. My reason is that the jeffersons was a show that stayed away from serious topics and was very fun to watch. Good Times dealt with far too many serious issues and was depressing at times. Jeffersons was always a FUN show. OK Jeffersons fans, where are you?

I am a Good Times fan, but The Jeffersons is at the top of my list as one of the greatest sitcoms ever. I really think the writing was good and the actors and actresses delivered it great. also The Jeffersons dealt with dramatic issues really good. the episodes that really show it's greatness are, They Don't Make Preachers Like Him Anymore and The Doorknobs shined liked Diamonds.

The Jeffersons -- because like you said, it was (and is) a FUN show. Not necessarily the funniest show of all time.... but it is FUN.

I like them both. But I'm a Good Times fan. The Jeffersons was more consistant and had better writing though.

I haven't seen too many episodes of Good Times, which is a spin-off of Maude.
I just love The Jeffersons. Any chance they'll be back on tv in the future I wonder? |

The Jeffersons is airing in the NYC area every Saturday Night on WPIX. That's the only area it's airing in i think. |

Good Times was one of the 70s' best sitcoms IMO, but it fell off when John Amos left. Year 5 was the worst and as has been pointed out on the board for this series there were all kinds of holes in the writing. Jeffersons held up better to me, even though it had its own share of problems (it ran too long, for one thing). But Jeffersons even though it wasn't out to make some deep social statement, had a lot of heart and was a very entertaining show even at its worst. I vote for the Jeffersons by a nose.

Good Times was a sitcom based on the life of Eric Monte, the creator of the Show which dealt with the struggles of a poor Black Family living in a Chicago Ghetto. Lot of the Good Times episodes is based on Eric Monte's real life experiences growing up in Chicago area. This show was the complete opposite of the Jeffersons which is why I compared both shows. |
