Angry Mark David Chapman Might Be Released From Prison This Week

Mark David Chapman who killed John Lennon in December of 1980, may be released from prison this week after serving 24 years for the murder of the ex-Beatle. I am troubled to hear this. Lennon has been one of my heros since freshman year of high school, and I don't want to see the man who killed him free. I think that Chapman should spend the rest of his life behind bars. Besides I don't think that 24 years is enough of a punishment for ending another human being's life. I do not believe in the death penalty but Chapman (and anyone who takes away a person's life) should never see the light of day again.

I heard that somewhere. People were saying that "24 years wasn't enough time for the murder of one of the best singers", yadda yadda yadda... I don't care if someone kills the president, or a homeless bum on the streets. It's still a person.

I think this guy deserves another 30 years or so.

They denied him last time, let's hope they make the same decision this time around. My father has been a Beatles/John Lennon fan for as long as I can remember - he's going to freak if it happens. And you can bet I'll be pissed.

Do you honestly think he'll ever be paroled? Besides, I guarantee you that life out of prison would be a safety risk to Mr. Chapman himself!

No sir. I think he should be put to death. An eye for an eye. But to say he will never get out it kinda narrow-minded.

even if Chapman got out, how long do you think he'd make it before someone shot him? There are so many hardcore Beatles/Lennon fans who wouldn't feel bad about hurting Chapman.

I don't agree with the death penalty. I do think Mark should stay behind bars for life. I mean, how does anyone know he might just go and get obsessed with someone else and shoot someone again. And, all the pain Yoko Ono, and his sons Sean and Julian went through. And the other former Beatles: Paul, George and Ringo. If he's let out of jail it would send out a message that there is no consequence for people who stalk and kill another person, whether the victim be well-known or not well-known. I don't agree with the death penalty because it would be like putting Mark out of his misery in prison. Make him stay miserable and stay in jail for life .

I also agree with what Buffyslayer79 said. It probably wouldn't be long before Mark himself got shot by someone. I mean, looking back in history at the JFK assassination, when Lee Harvey Oswald was going to trial before he even entered the courtroom, Jack Ruby shot Oswald. Someone in this crazy world just might try to shoot Chapman on the way to his trial.
