Red face Evacuations ordered at Mount Saint Helens; eruption imminent

"Threat to life" described. Lava has been moving under the surface.

Yeah, magma's moving up right now, but they're not sure how much there is. Looks like Johnston Ridge (5 miles away) has been evacuated.

Looks like news crews aren't going to be able to get as cool shots as they did yesterday.

But we might see lava this time. I'm keeping a close eye on this (I'm sure Brent is, too )

There was another steam explosion about an hour ago... The earthquakes have stopped and now it's a nonstop tremor.

This is like waiting for Christmas.

Yeah, I've been watching Northwest Cable News like a hawk, and they broke in at around 12:20 when the steam explosion was happening (although you really couldn't see much because it's so dusty and hazy).

I hope law enforcement can evacuate people without there being
a whole lot of panic and confusion.

It's gonna suck if it blows bigtime!! I thought some of you guys were under the idea that it wasn't going to be to big of a deal?? I guess when nature decides to let loose no one knows what it's gonna do. Hope everyone is safe up there.

Ya know I live kinda near it (well about a state away but its only like an hour or two away) and its REALLY not that big of a deal its not like the first time it erupted in 1980 .

Well, seizmic activity stopped after it first blew yesterday. The scientists were saying activity would have to pick up again for more volcanic eruptions to take place. And it looks like there has been more seizmic activity, so...it's gonna probably 'splode again.

It won't be a big eruption, nothing close to 1980, but considering it hasn't erupted in 18 years it'll seem big.

There's a good chance chance it's going to be the biggest eruption since '80, though.

I have a very bad feeling about this. they were saying it was minor, but this could be a huge eruption.
