Cool Favorite episodes

I am curious, what are your favorite Flintstones episodes. Mine are the one where Pebbles was born, and Yogi Bear on the Flintstones, as well as the one where Pebbles and Bamm Bamm sang.

With the upcoming release of season 2, I thought I’d pick my favourite season 2 episodes.
Alvin Brickrock Presents
Fred suspects that his neighbor has killed his wife. Love the eerie music in this one.
The Rock Quarry Story
Movie star Rock Quarry attempts to lead a normal life as Gus Schultz, but Wilma and Betty recognize him. Wilma’s and Betty’s reactions when first seeing Rock Quarry are hilarious.
The X-ray Story
Wilma, Barney and Betty try to keep Fred awake for 72 hours after Dino's X-ray is mistaken for Fred's. The roller skating sequence is classic, and Dino almost steals the show.
Impractical Joker
Barney gets revenge on prankster Fred by pretending to run a basement counterfeiting operation. Fred’s genuine concern over his "little buddy" is memorable.
Operation Barney
Feigning illness so he and Fred can go to a ball game, Barney finds himself in the hospital and scheduled for an operation. Fred’s battle with the night nurse is great.
The Happy Household
Wilma lands a job as star of "The Happy Housewife Show," which leaves Fred feeling like a neglected hubby. Love the “Happy Housewife” jingle.
Fred Strikes Out
After failing a considerate-spouse quiz and missing their anniversary, Fred tries to make it up to Wilma with a romantic drive-in date. But he has to bowl in a championship tournament at the same time. Fred’s abrupt departures from his car and the antics trying to get the ball off his thumb are very funny.

FIRST SEASON:
The first fourand I am using MY worfds to summarise, as WELL as to put my usual notes..)
FLINTSTONE FLYER (first aired, second producer):Barney's built a eggbeater loking chopper that he shows to Fred, and which they both name the FLINTSTONE FLYER (after Barney first calls it BARNEYCOPTER!)..and to use it to go out on a night bowling..but can the wives catch on to their..uh,"Sick"little joke?.The core four (no rhyme intended) (Blanc,Reed,Benadaret, and Vanderpyl) doing the voices also play (as in the one where the Rubbles's house is flooded so move in with the 'Stones next season) all characters, and as in the later example here, no other characters besides our four friends. It is here that our flabby friend yells "Yabba DabbaDoo" for the very first time. (see next entry.)

THE SWIMMING POOL: Fred and Barney are divided and fighting over Fred's swiiming pool. Barney then throws a party which turns out to be for Fred.

The actual debut, though the first shown, Fred first here, saying "Yahoo!". Part of this was the pilot, the Flagstones. Good perfomances from the first use of outside voices: Hal Smivoiced by Fred's current voice Henry Corden, in th as the angry next door nieighbor (who is so not different from Loudrock, [DINO & JULIET] their one-timer only fiourth or fifth season neighbor, who calls the cops on them!) veteran, though now forgotten, oldtime raido character actor and announcer Rye Billsbury aka Mike Rye as Charlie, a pool shooting pal of Fred whom he calls to crash the parrty, impersonating a cop before Freddy-boy makes amends with Barney, realizing that this party is Daws Butler as the cop who Fred's mistakes for Charley(!!!).Hal Smith, Daws Butler & June Foray (who herself would appear, notably as Grandma Dynamite and others later in the same original run of this series) appear in the 1960 pilot, FLAGSTONES< and the portion that is utilized here's the famed "Wilma, Betty and Banrey with sandwiches" outdoors--Wilma has SHOES on!!!

HOT LIPS HANNIGAN: Fred and Banrye show a jazzy side at the nightclub where they're welcome by their buddy Hot Lips (based on the old 1923 Pauil Whiteman/Henry Busse tune, done by fellow dancebandleaders such as Horace Heidt [THE HUTSUT SONG of HORTON fame] and others). That's coimic Jerry Mann as the Louis Prima/Ed Wynn soudning Hotlips. Grreat magician-set up.

NO HELP WANTED*:Fred gets barney, through Fred's buddy, Chip(?) boulder, a job (which, is unknown as such to Fred) repossession..Fred's TV! Frank nbelson, who's extremel;y popular and famous for his "EEEYESSSS?" on jack Benny, and Sanford and Son just to name the SITCOMS, exemplarly and hilariously doubles as both Chip Boulder (Fred';sgolfing "pigeon") and the guy he gets Barney a job with (Rocky Stone-the one who's closser to Nelson's voice, though neither does the actual "Yess" due obviously to it originating on NBC). (NOTE:Nerlson doesn't seem to have done the trademark catchline on, but DOES almost ALWAYS appear on, IK LOVE LUCY, which was non-NBC as the 'STONES were.) Features the fmaous Wilma with the smelts bitr.

THE SPLIT PERSOANLITY: Fred's thirsty, he wants Catcus cola but trouble's that Barney drank it, and Fred mistook the latter's CAR POLISH for it, and the realization causes him to unknowingly (in an inevitable panic!) throw said ottle up ontro himself, and when the doc (who turns out to be a VET) leaves, Fred weakes up, becoming a sopohiciated artistocrat in the process. He calls Betty her full Christian name--Elizxabeth. He calls barney-Bernard, HIS full name. (WIlma of course is just WIlma.) He causes trouble but the others conk him agian and thus restore him back. Howard MacNear delivers a fine cameo appearance. MacNear, best known as Floyd the Barber concurrently debuting on ABC on THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW and also a longitme radio guy, is hilarious as the doc who turns out to be a vet, who says "hit him on the head wiith a BOTTLE????----with a ROLLING PIN yes, a FRYING PAN..but NEVER, NEVER hit him with a bottle".in his cameo before Wilma gives hima MAJOR wakeup call.MacNear, as the doc, was a longtime raadio comci standby, also appearing in 1937 in the "allstar" CINNAMON BEAR kids XCMAS radio show (that program also ahd future FLINSTONERS/LUCY/JACK BENNY-stock-ers Verna Felton & Frank Nelson, plus Verna';s fellow DUMBO pachyderm nasties DorScott & Noreen Gamill, plus 1930s Waners-Disney homely old-maid deLuxe Elvia Allman (Baylor)(yet another LUCY vet), and Gale Gordon and Slim pckens!! MacNear would go on to,irnocallyD RAMATIC shows and of course contemporanous with STONES do GRIFFTH shows and died in 1969.

HOLLYWOOD HERE I COME:
Fred and Barney take advantage odf their day off after thw wives go to Hollyrcok to go there themsevles, and Fred winds up in a "Frogmouth" shows! Jerry Mann as the Phil Silvers-ish producer.
Features a bit from Bugs Bunny's FROM PEROSN TO BUNNY released around here, the "take the bighbsot a few pegs down by seeing if he's got stage fright--Ahh it works" bit.

SNORKASUAURS HUNTERS*:Fred and Baney go hunting a snorkasaurs, whose status as Dino W.J.Griffin,myself and others have debated here. Again, Jerry mann's excelelnt as a Phil Silvers type character.HE does Ed WYnn for the grocer, the only time that I recall that he gets both there..

THE HYPONOTIST: Fred, jealous of tube hypnotist The Great Mezmo,(sp?) tries the othetr guy's craft on Wilma but inadvertantly put Barney under a spell. Features both Howard MacNear (as the vet!) and jerry mann as the Ed Wynn-sounding Mezmo, and Mel Blanc & Jerry Mann doubling as all other (largely) male character, including the dogs! (That's also Blanc as the dogcatcher.)

THE DRIVE-IN*: Our buddies are managers of their own drive in, with two teenage (?) carhops Daisy and Gwen who come in with the famous "bioger on a bun" ashowstop-song and make the wives jealous. Also hass a great shrinking down gag at end, one f many such gags.

LOVE LETTERS ON THE ROCKS: WIlma and Betty discuss Fred's ultra-cute love leters to hewr, and Fred sees them, all at Fred's house only to not remember HIMSELF as the author and get jealous., Best part is the "Peter Gunn" type, with John Stevenson doing the voice.

FRED FLINTSTONE: BEFORE OR AFTER:Fred joins a television contest, and thus, a diet organization, to test his skill at losiing weight. THis part rewroing by Warren Foster of his own Oscar BIRDS ANONYMOUSE (WB,1957), has a lot of funny stuff including the bespectalded, aged "Food Anonymous" spokesperson who trips, and take sies away from, Fred, all in the name of keeping him on his diet..ahhh! (Imprtant message: Don't eat too much or YOU just may find a bespectactle elderly gent clevertly tyaking it away form YOU and chanting.."A GOINK GOINK GOINK."Make your own judgement about the "Speaker doesn't know when to stop" ending.)

SECOND SEASON:
THE IMPRACTICAL JOKER: Barney gets even with Fred for all his practical jokes with a sinister plot--a wacky money machine. Another good twist with a suprise aprty for Barney.

THE MASQUREADE PARTY: Fred goes to a masquarade ball, but after buying from Stoneface (the only costumer on town)--a dino costume, and seeing that his boss SAlate's gonna wear a bird suit anfd the costsumer will wear the bird outfit, both at this ball, goes to who he thinks is slate, and Stoneface, and respectively, butters him up, and tells HIM aboiut what a dolt the other is..(that is, the first being Mr.Slate and the costumer)..not even realziiing that the two SWITCHED due to Mr.Slate's being foolish at wearing the bird outfit.John Stepehenson alreayd is the Slate voice. But Don Messick takes Frank Nelson's saucy role, of the costumer, without actually copoying the voice due to the "Mel Blanc"-ish refusal to imitate. Joe Rockhead is Slate's name!

HAPPY HOMEMAKER:WIlam gets a job on TV< much to Fred;' chagrin.Paul Frees guests stars.

THIS IS YOUR LIFESAVER: Fred regrets saving a "Monty Gypsum",who takes advantgae of him>Walker Edmiston does the Jerry Colonna/Hans COnried type character.

TI'll post third to sixth tomorrow, since it is 1:00 AM now where I lvie!

O-kay..back (after a recurring Los Angeles Baisn thunderstorm theatrened ourt power!)

[For convience I'm posting on a separate reply.See below]
*No laughtrack on DVD.

To continue

(SECOND SEASON,contineud from above post.)
THE HIT SONGWRITERS
[Note Mel "Barney" Blanc was in the hospital forma legendary auto accident;Daws Butler did Barney for this and a few not on the list]
Hoagy Carmichael helps the boys write a hit song. Beloved Bandleader, singer, compsoer, lyricist, pianist and radio personality and laos actor and publiosher Hoagy Carmichael provided his own voice here.

ALVIN BRICKROCK PRESENTS
Famous archealogist---with more than a LITTLE baggage --Brickrock moves in next door and his siniuster and diabolical deamenor and teeltale "clues" in hsi house cause the boys suspicion.

THIRD SEASON
DINO GOES HOLLYROCK
Enamoured of both TV and it shottest dino-pooch-star Sassie, Dino goes into showbiz and makes a bulldog out of himself but finds out something startling about his new love, something that reeduces him to a puppy--Sassie has [spoiler]FASLE EYELASHES and is a SNOOT!!!![/spoilers]!! Herschel Bernadi plays the one of the guys, and John Stephenson channels Phil Silvers as the guy saying "We can kjeep the SASSIE show going forever."

FRED'S NEW BOSS
Fred gets Barney promoted by mr.Slate but unbeknownst to either party, Barney's Mr.Slate's NEPHEW--explaining the promotion.Great fun wiuth Fred tryiung to get WIlma to be one of the "boys" when he doesn't have barney as a reesult anymore.Barney, at Slate's society place, unintentionally disrupts MILES of CHESS players. (There is NOTHING like the fear that is strucken into the hearts by a guy with a Mel Blanc/Art Carney-"Ed Norton/HOPNEYMONNERS" inflecvtion suddenly breaking your concetration, with a well-placed Warren Foster line, and out of context.."ANYONE WANNA SHOOT POOL?")

Others include the third-seaosn Greata Gravel one (title escapes me);starring obscure oen of the MOST prolofic raido gals, Paula Winslow, as Fred's "Date",Greta Gravel, suggested by Mr.Slate, for the first time actually named, but she's also a HIGH SCHOOL of WIlma's, and the Mrs,.Slaghoople (especiallyt with Verna Felton as the role and second best with Janet Waldo as her first major non-teen role) Gazoo epsidoes as a whole and the Pebbles-Bamm NO BIZ LIKE SHOW BIZ.

Also any Howard MacNear or Frank Nelson guests starrers.
