The Good Rev. Ike was real "Preacher" or as they like to say in the South a "Jacklagged Preacher" He use to come on tv at night during the early 70's and throughout the eighties advertising "prayer clothes" or if you send him money he would then "pray for you" basically ripping off poor Black people mostly elderly. who would send him money convinced they would have their prayers answer. Long story short he was a
CON ARTIST He even have a "church in NY near 181 st ST.My mother pointed it out to me when we went by it once.

I think Florida made a reference to Rev Ike in the episode-Judy Cohen Story-she said-as Rev Ike would
say- "How can we lose with the stuff we use" LOL |

Yes that's exactly what Florida said, I remember that episode. I also wondered who Reverend Ike was. |

Rev. Ike's full name is Rev. Dr. Frederick Eikerenkoetter, hence the nickname "Rev. Ike". He was a televangilist (one of the first) in the 1970's. He always wore flashy jewelry & nice suits and always drove a big shiny cadillac. His church is in New York City. I went to Rev. Ike's church a couple years ago & met Rev. Ike after the service. He was mentioned on several sitcoms in the 70's. Rev. Ike still preaches at his huge church in Manhattan. One of his more famous quotes is "Get out of the Ghet-to and into the Get-Mo'!" lol

A few years ago I saw his infomercial late at night. I can see why he dupes so many. He is a very very good public speaker. He would be quite convincing to the down and out. I don't care for him at all myself.
