Default Some Cancelled Sitcoms that received Good Reviews by TV Guide

(Grady)-Sanford and Son spinoff that premeired in December of 1975 and was cancelled in March of 1976.

(That's My Mama)-Premired in Sept f 1974 and wa camcelled on Christmas Eve of 1975.

(Ropers)-Premeired in March of 1979 and was cancelled in May of 1980.

I had a chance to see all three shows and the worst of out the Three was the Ropers.

Cool Psycho Son

...You are correct, "The Ropers" stunk worse than the other twobut had the distinction of starring the girl from "The Bad Seed" all grown up and married to the obnoxious Jeffrey Tambor. They also had a son who would sit around, whining about there not being any friends arounds to play with. He acted like the slow boiling psychopaths you see on A&E allthe time. "He was always such a lovely, quite child", I can hear a neighbor say after he has cut the ropers into pieces.

His character was defintely not needed on the Ropers. It wasn't any kids on Three's Company so why would they add a kid character to the Ropers cast-LOL?

Didn't Freaks and Geeks, Popular and Andy Richter Controls the Universe get good reviews from them?

I'm not sure about "Popular", but I remember the other 2 getting great reviews.

MSCL also got rave reviews from fans and critics...too bad the dumbasses at ABC cancelled it!

But I heard Claire Danes wouldn't have come back for a 2nd season anyways...too bad the show couldn't have been finalized....

One show I remember as getting VERY good reviews in the fall preview some years back was Fox's "Woops!" For those that have forgotten, that was the nuclear missile accident-leaving-six-people-alive-on-Earth sitcom (around 1991 or so). I strongly remember TVG saying that with this show, Fox could rule Sunday night.

...Woops!

I wanted to chime in here as soon as I saw "Woops!" mentioned. I used to watch that show way back when as a kid, and I recall it being very funny. I don't remember what the reviews on it were, but I don't think it was given a fair shake by Fox. They got rid of it pretty quickly if I recall correctly (which I may not since it was a decade ago, lol).

Yeah, I watched this a few times and it was really good. I can't imagine why they would cancel it. I found the DVD set the other day at Best Buy. It looks like a good set; since it's the entire series. Did they give it a proper send off or did they just end it?

Well, Claire Danes not returning for a 2nd season would have killed it anyway. I hadn't heard that she didn't want to do anymore.

AKA Pablo 1984 got good reviews inspite that it stunk. Buffalo Bill 1983-1984 was well received by the viewers and got good reviews.
