September 24, 2004 -- Cynthia Nixon flew back to New York on Monday to celebrate her Emmy with the one person she really wanted to be with Sunday night - her new girlfriend. "You would not be outing her [by writing about this]. Cynthia is in a relationship with a woman," said someone in the know.

The redheaded "Sex and the City" star "has nothing to hide. She is simply living her life."

And it's a good life, at that.

"Winning the Emmy was huge for her," said another source. "She was elated. She is being inundated with offers right now."

Nixon will appear in "Little Manhattan" slated to debut next year, and TV execs are looking to line up the sexy star in several pilots.

The Barnard graduate and theater veteran has two children with her junior high school sweetheart, photographer Danny Mozes.

Nixon, who split with Mozes after six years together in June 2003, lives alone with her two children in Manhattan.

Nixon, who has known "Sex and the City" castmate Sarah Jessica Parker since their childhood days on Broadway, made an international name for herself when she was cast opposite Parker in the hit HBO show as Miranda Hobbes, a cynical corporate lawyer.

The Emmy Nixon won on Sunday was her first major solo award, although she has been nominated for a Golden Globe three times and won a Screen Actors Guild award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

Nixon, dressed in an elegant brown sheath and coral necklace, was elated and thanked her friends and castmates in her speech.

After winning the award, she celebrated for the rest of the night with castmates Parker and Kristin Davis, along with the producers, writers and directors of the show at HBO's after-party at Morton's on the corner of Melrose and San Vicente in Los Angeles.

The "Sex" women, who have become good friends, huddled in a corner gabbing for the majority of the night, and when asked by reporters about her win, Nixon would only compliment Parker.

"That's just the kind of person she is," said a pal.

Nixon's rep didn't return calls.

'Sex and the City' Star Switches Roles

NEW YORK (AP) - "Sex and the City" has taken on a whole new meaning for Cynthia Nixon. The actress, who just won an Emmy for her role as Miranda Hobbes in the hit HBO comedy, is in a relationship with another woman, a source who works with Nixon told The Associated Press on Friday.

The New York Daily News and the New York Post reported Friday that Nixon has been dating a woman since January. The woman is neither in the public eye nor living with Nixon.

"We will not confirm or deny anything," Nixon's publicist, Carrie Ross, told AP.

"My private life is private," Nixon told the Daily News. "But at the same time, I have nothing to hide. So what I will say is that I am very happy."

The actress split in June 2003 with photographer and high school sweetheart Danny Mozes, whom she'd been with for 15 years (but never married). They now share custody of their two children.

If "Sex and the City" were to be believed, the revelation would have been more expected from Kim Cattrall's character, Samantha, whose many, many TV conquests included one woman.

Nixon's lawyer character was the cool professional of the bunch, although her boss mistook her for a lesbian in the first season and set her up with a woman, resulting in a single kiss. But Miranda never dallied further and ended up married to her bartender boyfriend.

After two previous nominations, Nixon, 38, won an Emmy this year for her performance on the HBO show. She is working on "Tanner on Tanner," a Robert Altman and Gary Trudeau miniseries for the Sundance Channel.
