Default My Thoughts On The Current TGIF

Last night, my sister and I sat down and watched TGIF for the first time since Boy Meets World left. Here's what I think of each show.

8 Simple Rules - I always liked it with John Ritter but I think they're doing a good job without him. I laughed throughout the episode and even out loud once. All in all, the second best show of the night.

Complete Savages - A great example of how most sitcoms today suck. I didn't laugh once and thought the show was stupid. The dad and the musical son seemed like good actors, but the material just wasn't there. All in all, the second worst show of the night.

Hope & Faith - The only good thing about this show was Ted McGinley. That's right. I thought he did a great job and hope he finds a better sitcom to go to. Was it just me or does their teenage daughter remind you of Kaley Cuoco's "Bridget" from "8 Simple Rules"? Kelly Rippa's character (I think it was Faith) was just an annoying "dumb blonde". This time she was a little too annoying. All in all, the worst show of the night.

Less Than Perfect - I actually laughed out loud a bunch of times during this show/episode. I've always liked this show and think it's the best on TGIF. I thought Andy Dick's "Onion" scene was great.

From Best to Worst:
1 - Less Than Perfect (Best)
2 - 8 Simple Rules
3 - Complete Savages
4 - Hope & Faith (Worst)

I watched Hope and Perfect. I've always loved Perfect and think it's one of the better sitcoms on tv today. Hope? Cheesy, kinda funny, but not very good.

The ratings just came in for last night though, and were they ever bad..... 8 Simple Rules and Savages averaged a 4.0 HH rating, H&F a 4.6 and Perfect and 4.4, all down DRAMATICALLY from last season.

I Enjoyed almost everything on the new TGIF.

I Didnt like 8 Simple Rules much during the first season, But with the addition of David Spade and the Grandfather.....I Now Love it. This of course has nothing to do with John Ritter, I Think he was a great actor.....But i just didnt care for it much the first season.

Complete Savages is awesome and funny. Its probably my favorite show on TGIF.

Hope & Faith is even better this year than it was last year. Ted Mcginley is a great actor and i'm glad hes finally on a fairly succesful show. The new Sydney is hot!

Less Than Perfect doesnt get my attention much. Its Ok.....I Just have a hard time getting into it. Doesnt seem like it fits on TGIF. They should have kept Married To The Kellys (Which In my Opinion, Was a very underated show) and put it in this timeslot.

Overall, TGIF Is great this year. Its Kinda got the feeling of the 90's TGIF Again.

LTP doesn't really fit in anywhere on ABC, that's the problem. It's much more adult oriented than anything else ABC has. It always said that it would make a great NBC Thursday show, well, back when there were actually sitcoms on NBC Thursday!

I never thought 8SR was anything special like it was always made out to be. And Hope and Faith was just annoying. Not a fan of either one.

Complete Savages was pretty bad. I'd expect better from Keith Carradine.

I use to watch TGIF back in the day when Full House and all those great shows were on that night. The last time besides last night when I last watched TGIF was Sabrina was on it.

I think the new TGIF is pretty good. But not all younger age kind of shows like the old ones use to have. But still good.

I think all the shows are pretty good except for that new show "Complete Savages"

It seems to go well after H&F, it did held all of the audience there in repeats over the summer and held almost all from the premiere, even though the ratings overall were pathetic. Last season it was behind According To Jim, so I can see ABC's logic in moving to to Fridays as it seems ALOT more compatible with H&F than Jim, even though both of those series are on the low end of things.

It's probably the last season for LTP anyway, unfortunately, as I too believe that it's the smartest sitcom on ABC, with George Lopez and close runner up. By moving it to Fridays, ABC seems to be saying, well, if it works, it works, but if it doesn't, it's not a family show anyway and not in our "grand plan."

The set can be confusing. I'm still trying to figure out where Ramona and Owen's office is. I know it's not on the same floor (that was the premise of the series, Sara Rue moves to the 22nd floor as a temp), but it's odd that those two are always in the newsroom getting coffee or something.

I can't really think of a character on the show that I don't like, or one that I like the most. Besides Will Sasso's character, and Zachary Levi's, they're all well integrated and interesting.

I wouldn't worry about that. I think last night's Dateline was special or something. As long as the TGIF block is first or second among viewers 18-49, it'll do fine.

yeah, even Joan and JAG were lower than last year. I'm sure things will perk up sooner than later.

As for the shows, 8 Simple Rules is still a great show. Adding James Garner & David Spade sounded crazy but they work extremely well together & mesh with the family. Although noone could ever replace John Ritter, they do a terrific job.

Complete Savages surprisingly was pretty funny...it fits, Hope & Faith is one of the worst shows on TV in my opinion. Kelly Ripa isn't bad on the morning show but it's painful to watch this show. And Less than Perfect is always funny.

Glad to see the support for Less Than Perfect. It's a show that you hear almost nothing about, but it's really funny and one of the better sitcoms on tv.

As for the ratings, week two will be interesting, but overall, the 8 to 10pm block was down 35% from last season's premieres. That a big drop, regardless of what's airing on another network.

Especially on NBC and FOX
