In my opinion:

Usher - will still be here

Kanye West - will go back to being producer

Black Eyed Peas - I don't think will be around

Justin Timberlake - unfortunately will be around, but more as an actor

Christina Aguilera - if she cleans up her act and stops with the slut thing she will survive. Has the voice to survive.

Nelly - once again the rap world will go in a different direction, will be part of the cast of Surreal Life

Vanessa Carlton - has a good voice, writes her own music. A survivor

Blink 182 - like Sugar Ray there 14:59 is about at that point.

Maroon 5 - no. I like their music, but the music business is fickle and evolves like a revolving door.

Linkin Park - not sure

Christina Milian - will not be around

Again just my opinion. Not scientific fact. There is a margin of error.

Usher - will probably still be around, tho I hope his next album flops to knock him off this "I am Michael Jackson, I am Elvis" trip. He's okay but he does not deserve to be that big.

Kanye West - hot hip hop producers come and go... where's Irv Gotti now?

Black Eyed Peas - not sure, they are so much different now than they were when they originally came out. They do have talent and a wide appeal though.

Justin Timberlake - we'll see how his next album does. If his next cd feels the backlash effects from Nipplegate, I doubt it. If his new cd does okay, there's a chance.

Christina Aguilera - the verdict is out on her, wait till her next cd. It'll be the one to determine if she's the new Madonna or the new Cyndi Lauper (as Cyndi had fame for about five years and two albums, then her third album killed her)

Nelly - I dunno

Vanessa Carlton - she really only had one big hit

Blink 182 - they will probably still be around, with their following but not quite hot like they once were. Think present-day Green Day

Maroon 5 - Adam Levine himself said he is going to dissolve M5 after they have three albums so they won't get stale.

Linkin Park - third album will determine

Christina Milian - is she really even here now?

Christina Aguilera has the vocal talent to have a long and productive career, but she needs to stop focusing on the "image" and more on her music. My younger sister saw her in concert last year and said that Christina spent more time backstage changing contumes then actually on stage performing. If she decides to focus on the music, I think that she will be around along time.

I think Usher, Vanessa Carlton and Maroon 5 will stil be around. They've all got good singing voices and their songs are pretty good. I think Ashlee Simpson will still be around, too. I don't think her sister Jessica will be around in ten years, though. Ashlee has a much better singing voice than her sister.

I don't think that Jessica will be around in five years. Her whole "dumb blond" act is going to get old after a while. Her fans will tire of it and lose interest in her. Also, show buisness is often cruel to woman as they get older. If you look at the veteran artists who have continued to sell millions of records over the years, they are all male. I'm not saying this is the way that it ought to be, because it should not be, but this is the way that it is.

exactly, plus Newlyweds is ending soon (I read that her and Nick are having marital problems also) and I think her career will go back down. In This Skin was really bombing until Newlyweds took off. The first single got zero airplay, but then the show got popular and then she released "With You" and suddenly things took off for her.

why does everyone think Blink 182 will be gone then if they aren't broken up? they've already been here about 7 years. They will probably be in 2009 what Green Day are now. Still popular to an extent (well, GD is getting a lot of positive buzz for their upcoming cd) but the "mania" from 1994-1995 is long gone.

This brings up the question of what acts that were hot 5 years ago (1999) are still hot now really? TLC has faded, the "boy bands" have faded, Justin Timberlake is really the only one out of all of them that is still very popular, Janet Jackson and Madonna's sales are in decline but they are hyped more now as personalities, R Kelly is still popular and so are Usher, Christina Aguilera and Destiny's Child. Mase took a vacation and came back. There are others I can't think of right off the top of my head.

As far as answering the question of the thread I guess Usher will still be selling and Kanye West will still be making money as a producer though probably not as an artist. I don't know about anyone else. Some of these people will probably bow out on their own rather than wait for the public to lose interest in them.
