Getting TWY on DVD commercially - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Over at the WKRP in Cincinnati boards I read of a company that is apparently up to the challenge of getting the episodes of certain TV shows on DVD with the original music intact. The company is called Shout Factory.

Can they make DVDs of The Wonder Years?

You've got a great idea.
If Fox won't release the Wonder Years, maybe a third party could.
Other companies that come to mind are Columbia House and Time Life.
Columbia House releases TV shows with fewer episodes per DVD, which would help with the additional cost of the music rights.
My favorite might be Time-Life, which not only has DVD's but music CD's as well. They might already own the rights to many of the WY songs.
Maybe they could sell a multi episode DVD with an accompanying
CD with the music from those episodes.
Anyway, your idea is great.
I think I'll send e-mails to all three companies.

the one to root for is Shoutfactory - they were behind the release of the complete Freaks and Geeks series, which had ALL of the original music intact.

I agree that Shout! Factory are the most-likely company to release The Wonder Years on DVD. I too read that Shout! is up to the challenge when it comes to clearing music for TV shows. (specificly, they mentioned WKRP and That '70s Show, but Fox has since decided to release '70s Show' themselves) Luckally, Fox is one of the few studios that license their shows to other companies for DVD releases. I would like to think that Shout! would release The Wonder Years before WKRP, as I think it is a much more popular show, and has a wider audience.
