Rocky and Deer Hunter are my favorites. I've only seen the Godfather once, recently. After seeing stuff like Goodfellas and the Sopranos first, I'm not sure if I can appreciate Godfather like I should, it's considered one of the greatest ever made.

The Sting. I love that movie. I haven't seen The Deer Hunter yet, but I rented it last night. So, maybe I'll change my mind (I doubt it could be better than The Sting though).

I liked

The French Connection
The Godfather
The Sting
One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest
Rocky

I've seen Annie Hall but I found Woody Allen's character to be too neurotic. I would have probably liked it better if he toned it down or something. Not one of my favorite movies.

I saw The Deer Hunter for the first time just a couple years ago myself, and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't just another war movie, but more of a story of friendship, and of just how much war can change a person forever. Surprisingly there's very little warefare in the film. The movie starts off a little slow, but the last hour or so is some of the most emotional stuff Iv'e ever seen on film. Definitely the kind of movie that stays with you for awhile!

I'm just looking over the list again - wow, talk about a decade full of "guy films." With the possible exceptions of Annie Hall and Kramer vs. Kramer.

Let me just say all of these films are movies that my dad and brother love, and I never had any desire to see.

wow!

after years of hearing guys belittling "chick flicks". It's nice to see a girl belittle "man movies", lol.

That was a great decade for movies. I voted for Kramer vs Kramer. It was such a sad movie. Meryl Streep won an Oscar for Best Actress for her role.
