Default Willona was always broke and she lived alone-LOL

Willona was always screaming she was broke and she was supporting herself. She had no kids, and lived in the projects where the rent was much lower and she was struggling like the Evans. Made no sense-LOL

Considering how much those designer clothes and wigs every single week must have cost, it makes sense!

On the other hand, Ms. Woods DID look good in them outfits, and Girlfriend wasn't trickin' or anything like that, so who cares where she got the loot for her wardrobe? The gal was fiiiiiiiiiinnnne!

I always looked forward to seeing Willona on Good Times, because she was a walking fashion show.

In the episode where Florida goes to night school,James insulted Willona about where she got her clothes and then Willona got back at James by saying that she wasn't pickin' cotton no more.

i don't recall wilona ever saying that she was "broke." she eluded to having hard times like everyone else but never "broke."

-she always brought gifts.
-she always was dressed to the 9s.
-she threw dinner parties.
-she always offered money to the Evans when they were in a bind.

wilona was by no means BROKE. could she have gotten out of the projects...probably so.

When JJ was held up in prison, Wilona offered to give the Evans' some money but she discovered she didn't have quite enough. She was low but never broke.

Yeah I meant to say struggling, not broke. One of her statements from the episode Rent Party

"The banks don't cash my check no more, they just look at them and laugh".

well she did work in a boutique, so she had the upper hand in fashion and probably getting a discount on those clothes.

What about during the fifth and sixth season when they showed Willona's apartment. It looked like she was doing pretty good compared to a household of 3 people (or 5 people if you count season 6)...lol

Willona's character was very typical of some single women who live in the projects. I know quite a few who dress well and have nicely furnished apartments. Alot of them have what some might consider backward priorities. Willona I'm sure could have left the projects long before, but her character definitely portrayed reality then and now. Many of them don't move because they know that they will have to make sacrifices in the fashion category.

Willona living in the projects was false reality anyway because you can;t get an apt in the projects as a single women

Being a guy, you obviously haven't experienced "The Female Wage" have ya Solomon? It was even worse back then in pay equity, but I know plenty of single women with supposedly "good" jobs that are still struggling on their own to this day. Not to mention the retail wage - we're still getting screwed on it!
