Can someone recommend me some literature and other usefull online resources?

The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows: 1946-Present by Tim Brooks and Earle Marsh is a good encyclopedia of televison. http://museum.tv/ is also a great site for learning.

Hi GM,
I would suggest to you Classic Sitcoms by Vince Waldron. This book focuses on ten sitcoms (I Love Lucy, Honeymooners, Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, All in the Family M*A*S*H, Barney Miller, Taxi and Cheers) giving a complete episode guide, cast lists, guest stars, directors, and in-depth analysis of certain episodes. Top-notch book. Especially for your needs.
