Post Favorite quote from "The Bicycle Man"

Man oh man, there are quite a few to choose from. But my vote has gotta go to Willis:

"Gee, I never would have guessed that Mr. Horton was ..... well, you know .... (awkward look) ...... gay.

Man, how times have changed. Put that same quote on a sitcom today and the kid would have just spit it out without thinking twice. That's what makes the Willis quote funny.

yeah times have changed. It was more innocent back then, compared to right now, where kids use that term all the time. LOL. But that was funny, he completely surprise me when he said that.

I think "The Bicycle Man" was the funniest episode even though they said it was special. The guy who was Mr. Horton played that character well.
This was one of the only episodes where all the jokes were funny, like when Mr. Horton showed Arnold & Dudley those naked pictures and Dudley said: "Looks like fun to me" and Arnold said: "I don't know, I don't think I'd like the idea of running around and everyone's staring at my bare butt. It lacks a certain dignity."

And the part when Mr. Horton said: "Let's play a game... oh, I know, tramperlean." Arnold: "You got a tramperlean here?" Mr. Horton: "Well no, we can just jump up and down on the bed, ah ha." And then they were jumping on the bed.

Another part was when Dudley's father told Drummond he would appreciate it if he wouldn't let Dudley have anymore wine when he is over there. And then Dudley's father said: "They're still babies" and Willis said: "Well it looks like the babies has gone from the nipple and straight to the ripple."

And that part when Mr. Horton planted that sex magazine near the comic books just so Arnold and Dudley can see it.

I just watched these episodes for the first time today and I thought it was quite well written and they dealt with the situation well.

I felt really sorry for Dudley.
I just thought as I was watching it that Arnold and Dudley looked the same age in the episode but I think at the time Gary was 16 and Shavar was 9!

Sorry, I just checked that and I got it wrong. 3 years is still a big gap though considering they are in the same class.

I think The Bicycle Man is one of the best DS episodes because that it was well-written, serious yet funny at the same time and it was handled tastefully overall.

Jethro - I know what you mean about the 3-year gap but I think that as long as it doesn't look too off; it should be all right you know?

Take care,
Tanya.

Red face

"TARZAN NEVER WORE A SHIRT!!!!!"
Best line. Best episode!I laughed my a** off then and I still do on the rare chance that I see it!
The Dirty Old Bicycle Man(Mr. Carlson!from WKRP in Cincinnati!)starts takin pictures of Arnold and Dudley. Arnold is the tiger and Dudley is Tarzan. After a few snaps he says"Take off your shirt Dudley.Tarzan never wore a shirt." Cracks me up.
That "gay" line Willis says IS a hoot....although the shockwer here isnt so much the man is gay...he's chasin your nine year old brother!!!!!!

I was watching these episodes again last night and they really are funny, they are now among my favourite episodes.

"Looks like the babies went from the nipple straight to the ripple" is a great line. I think Gordon Jump does a really god job of playing Mr Horton but that last line "I don't like the things Mr Horton was doing at the Bicycle shop but ome huggin and kissing is ok" just sucks!
