Default Do buy TV-DVD's as an outlet for you to see your favorite TV shows or as a way to

to explore new TV shows you've never seen before?

For me, TV-DVD is like another outlet for me to see series that I can not always see on TV. TV-DVD's give me the oppurtunity to taste and sample series that I'm interested in or I may not have caught or seen on TV before, and the enjoyment I get out of them by seeing them the first time. However, it can be both ways I do buy my favorite TV shows on DVD; even if they are on TV, mainly because they're uncut.

What's you TV-DVD outlet?

Some shows I get because I can't see them on TV (ALF, Good Times, Diff'rent Strokes)

Ive also gotten a lot of TVDVDs of series which I only watched occassionally in syndication, but felt they were DVD worthy (The Dick Van Dyke Show, Friends)

And others, which I bought out of pure curiousity (Curb Your Enthusiasm)

But, the bulk of my TVDVDs is shows that are currently seen in syndication, but you don't get the full experience unless its on DVD (Cheers, Frasier, The Simpsons, Friends, Boy Meets World)

And, for collectors purposes. For example.... Sanford & Son, which I didn't watch that often in syndication, but love on DVD.

Yeah alot of times the show isn't in syndication but might be out on DVD(the A-team) I bought the A Team cause I've been a long time fan of the show, plus I can't see it tv anymore.

But also I buy because I like to see my favorite shows uncut and commerical free, and tv shows on dvd is better than tv shows on tv

I buy TV-DVD for two purposes:

1) Collecting. Being a fan of classic television, I love to collect the shows that I like and love.

2) Building-My-Own-Network. As it stands now, classic television is beginning to fade away, IMO and thus I'm left with the choice of purchasing classic television on DVDs.

I buy them to see my favorite shows uncut (well, not will & Grace Or Alf) and Commercial free. Since buying TV shows on DVD Its hard to watch regular tv without getting annoyed by the commercial breaks...

I buy them because I'm afraid one day they may not air again in syndication this way I have them forever and don't worry about that.

Both. There are shows that I've never seen or haven't seen in years that I would love to buy on DVD since they don't air on TV. I'm planning on getting Mork & Mindy, since I've seen a few episodes and liked it. I remember watching it when it was on Nick at Nite in the early 1990s. It's also a good vehicle to watch my favorite shows uncut the way they were meant to be seen.

same here, especially the hour-long series' I like. Shows like Buffy, Charmed, Roswell and the sort will probably not be in reruns forever. Same with a lot of the sitcoms. Not every show will ever be like Andy Griffith or MASH or Cheers that will last in reruns forever.

I've never thought of it that way. Good point.

Favorite TV shows. I'm not into blind buys. Too poor to do that.
