I've changed my 'set in stone' opinion of Macauly Culkin.
I watched him on 'Larry King Live' just now. He seems to be one heck of a fine young man. I'll admit that I didn't have that impression of him before. My impression was undoubtedly influenced by garbage media. I'm rather ashamed of myself for being so small as to let myself be influenced by that. I wish him the best, and I look forward to seeing his latest movie.

I've always liked him too. It's another case of too much fame, too young. There's a good thread about him on the Movie board.
I wish him the best too. If he has a drug problem, I hope he can overcome it. I'd like to see his career take off again as well. |

And living in a dysfunctional family didn't help matters either. I believe his brothers and sisters are estranged from their father. Also getting married at 17 and getting divorced at 19 didn't help matters any either.

I didn't see him on LKL but I do feel bad for him, poor thing. I was shocked to find out that "Kevin" would do drugs

I've always been a fan of his...even when he had blue hair.
Or was it pink?

Okay, I can't say I'm a huge fan of Mac but I do happen to like the other Culkins. But give the guy a break. He suffered a painful childhood. And I'm sure that the same pain he felt when he was under the scrutiny of his dad is still there. That doesn't go away easily. Mac isn't that bad of a guy, he just has problems and emotional pains just like everybody else.
I'm a huge fan on his aunt's (Bonnie Bedelia) and I've done a lot of reading about the family and none of them really seem like bad people. They're just a little...weird. All of them are. They all have their little quirks about them and they all had different experiences. Mac just happens to be the most famous Culkin and his father would be the most infamous. The media made them all out to be a bunch of wackos for various reasons. How many of us could deal with what the Culkins had to? How many of us could survive the public scrutiny? I know I couldn't. I can't say I approve of his drug problems, but it probably seemed like an easy way out for him. But I truly believe that deep down Mac isn't a bad person. He just needs some help. |
