Default the earliest clips show possible?

has there been any series that did their "best of" episode earlier than Diff'rent Strokes? It just seemed way too early for it, especially for a one hour episode.

I admit I am loving this season 1 box set more than any other DVD I've ever bought, especially for the knowledge I can't just turn on the tv and catch an episode, which is the case with other shows I love that I own on DVD.

This is exactly what I was coming here to post. A clip show on episode 9/10?

"Remember this morning when you said 'Whachoo talkin' about Willis?"
"Yes, I do. It was only 20 minutes ago."
"Remember all the wacky circumstances surrounding it?"
"Yes. It was literally 20 minutes ago."
(cue flashback mist)

I cannot think of another show that did a clip show that early.

Along with the early flashback show, another thing I wasn't conscious of was how infrequently Dana Plato was on the show in the first season. I didn't keep track but there seemed to be a few episodes where Kimberly wasn't around.

Also, they had the same actor play three different characters during the first season, the detective on Goodbye Dolly, the landlord on The New Landlord and the principal (?) on Girls School.

yes, I have noticed that Kimberly was barely featured in the early episodes (I have made it up to episode 11 so far). I guess the first season was focused mainly on Willis and Arnold's adjustment to becoming rich, by season 2 and beyond, that had been established, so Kimberly was given more to do then walk in a scene, and walk out.

I zipped through the entire set in 3 days, pretty much a disc a day, plus the featurettes (didn't listen to the commentary yet)

I know right? I was expecting a "remember that time I woke you guys up on Christmas Eve to tell you how much I love having you in the family?" flashback IN THE SAME EPISODE, lol.

lol, I could watch it faster if I wanted to, but I am really trying to slow it out (like 3 episodes a night) for maximum enjoyment reasons, lol. If it was more common on television, I'd watch it faster but I figure doing "double takes" every night with it works better for me since I don't wanna rush it over too fast.

I'm actually usually that way too, but it's just that I buy so much, and with so much coming out that I know I'm going to buy, I'm trying to get through everything. I still haven't started MTM and Family Guy Vol. 1. among others. Usually I space things out. Amazing, I haven't seen anything but the bonuses/videos on the Prince movies that came out last month.

thankfully for me, after Roswell s2 on Oct 5... there's nothing I really wanna get asap until mid-November (tho I might get 227 [tho I am kinda waiting to see if a season 2 release happens or not] and Happy Days during that time)

Dana Plato was not supposed to be a regular character at the start of the show. It was only after people started writing in saying how much they liked the character that she was added to appear in every episode. She may have only signed a contract to appear in 6-13 episodes the first season, but they later modified it.

so was Dana Plato not originally in the opening credits but then later on in season 1, added?

Default Why have her at all?

Was she to go the way of Chuck Cunningham? Why even show the character if they weren't going to keep her around? Especially if she was related to a main character. Also, maybe they had a "clip show" early on to catch any new viewers up as to what was going on or to attempt to gain more viewers by showing all the previous funny bits. Personally, I hate clip shows. I think Golden Girls has more than any other show. Also, I don't think they should be shown during daily reruns.

I agree that there's no reason to add Kimberly if she wasn't going to stay, tho thank god she did stay.

Imagine had they had an episode where she becomes Chuck Cunningham's underage bride?

lol i already posted something about this just then now i see this post.
I reckon they may have done it as some people who just started watching the show at episode 7 or something could find out what happened. It may have been a way to get a ratings booster in my opinion. That would be my best guess.

It really annoyed me that episode i can't believe they did one so early no matter about the circumstances. If it was 1 ep i woulda put up with it but 2. It was heaps annoying. If they did it again in Season 2 i woulda been heaps annoyed.

Apparently Kimberly was in Season 1 infrequently was because she was only hired to be in the season part time. This was because it was a new series and they don't usually hire all the cast full time until they know it's a hit.
