Default Favorite 20th Century Classical Composers

Warning: No snoring in this thread.

Some of my favorites are:

Bela Bartok

Heitor Villa-Lobos (Unless you know your classical music, you probably don't have any idea of who he is. He's a Brazilian composer...the only South American classical composer to make it big outside of the continent.)

Sergei Rachmaninoff

Can I put on my "Unedjamacated In Classical Music" hat and just say Paul McCartney?

hahaha yes, you may.
The Beatles - with the exception of some of their early stuff - is classical music.

True. But in the '90s, McCartney put out three albums that were literally classical music: Liverpool Oratorio, Standing Stone and Working Classical.

I like George Gershwin's classical-styled pieces, like "Concerto in F" and his "Preludes".

Oh, sorry. I was wearing my "Unedjamacated In Classical Music" hat for a moment.
I'll look into it. And everybody should look into Villa-Lobos because, well, I'm an unabashed fan and want to "spread the word."

Oops, I forgot about Gershwin. He's one of my favorites, too.

While we're on the subject of classical music by rock musicians, this is a great album (technically, it's from the 21st century, but it's still a wonderful listen).

Would have to say Gershwin and McCartney.

Also: Leonard Bernstein, Elmer Bernstein, John Williams, Andre Previn.
