This is great news.... but its still more of the same. I mean, we all knew it was coming. And we all knew in 2005.
I wish a date came with it. |

Too true. Some of my favourite episodes are in season 4. It would be nice to know a release date so I can my preorder in ASAP. Unfortunately, here, the epsisodes are cut and time compressed and on top of that they are shown at 7pm so even more editing occurs when a more adult theme enters the conversations. One scene I'm looking forward to is the Niles and Daphne exchange in "Daphne hates Sherry". I've never seen it in its entirety. Bring on season 4!

I only recently started watching "Frasier" regularly (I love "Cheers" but "Frasier" has so different a style that it was offputting at first), so I've only seen seasons 1-3 thanks to DVD and a few reruns from the later seasons.
For some reason, seasons 4-6 are hardly ever rerun where I am, so pretty much every episode here will be new to me when this comes out. |

And about Frasier having such a different style - I think that's one of the main reasons it succeeded. Had it been too much like Cheers, it wouldn't have gained the necessary independence to stand on its own. |

Oh, I know that. I wasn't expecting it to be like "Cheers." I meant it's a different style than I usually enjoy watching. Most of my favorite shows either have a fast, cinematic pace ("Friends," "Seinfeld") or have a lot of talky, character-based moments (the above two, plus "Cheers"), so to go from that to "Frasier" was a little much to get used to at first.

I always saw "Frasier" as having a broader, farcical kind of style. It felt like a play - "Cheers" did too, but "Frasier" was more theatrical in the way it was structured.
