Default Man, Did Peter's Hair Change or What?

Hey Guys,

What about Peter's hair? I mean that went through the most dramatic change! The last episode of the 4th season aired in mid March of 1973, and by October of 1973, Chris Knight looks SO DIFFERENT with that perm! (He must have gotten a perm around the summer of 73.) I think he should have kept his hair natural like it was up until the end of season 4.

Was this Sherwood's idea for Chris to get a perm, or did he just do this on his own?

From what I've read, he didn't get a perm (I think Barry said that in his book). I'm not very familiar with filming schedules, but you said the last episode of the 4th season aired in March; the key would be when it was filmed. Also, his hair has been pretty curly ever since; even now it isn't straight. I vote for puberty kicking in big time.

Actually, Barry says that he didn't get a perm. He doesn't say anything about Chris.

Come to think of it, I think you're right. I'm pretty sure it was on the Q&A part of Barry's web site that he said that.

Yup--I found it. This is from 6/14/00

Q: Did Christopher Knight and Mike Lookinland (in the Brady Bunch Hour) perm their hair? I know in the book you did not, and Robert denies it, but what about those two. Sure seems strange that at the beginning of the 5th season, Chris has curls.
A: Blame it on the teen age years. Christopher and I suffered the same "hairy" fate of the frizzies. No perms.

I don't believe anything that Barry Williams says about hair anymore, now that he has that ridiculous toupee (along with a bad dye job).

Maybe he should get Bobby to dye his hair for him.

Actually, when I think about it, Barry's hair these days looks very much like that wig Jan bought (I know that it can't be the same exact one, though, because Alice said she was going to shave it and use it as a shower cap). I wonder if he tried on "Midnight Temptress" before he settled on his current style?

I hated Peters hair in those middle episodes. I thought it was really goofy looking. I didn't think the perm or whatever it was in the final season looked all that bad.

I really like his hair in the 4th season--not so much the style, but the color and texture.
