Default Alice's "Hi-Fi Stereo" Set!

Guys,

I always thought that it was cool that after Alice wins the stereo set from the Everpress Fabric Company for her contest jingle, that they actually kept it in the family room for about 2 more seasons! (Remember, Alice said they could keep it there so the whole family could enjoy it.) (I wonder if it was just used as a prop, or if the producers really did buy a stereo set that the cast could listen to during breaks or in-between breaks of the show!) Did you notice by the start of the 5th season that the stereo got replaced with a DIFFERENT unit! (No phonogragh, just receiver and speakers!) Hummmm, I wonder why they had to get another stereo:

Did Carol leave the amplifier on too long and Cindy tattled on her this time?

Did Marcia play a new record album 20 times in a row and wear out the unit? OR:

Did the Brady's just decide NOT to get a phonograph with the new stereo in the 5th season because they got sick of listening to Mike's "The Best of Gilbert and Sulivan" record!!!

I vote for the "Marcia played it too much" explanation. She just couldn't get enough of her favorite groups: The Eggbeaters, and Elsie & the Baboons. Or maybe it was Davy Jones, the Beatles, the Carpenters, and the Fifth Dimension.

Actually that was an 8-Track tape player that was used in the last season. I think that the record player got shuttled into the den and into the girl's room besides that how would Cindy had played her Shirley Temple record.

On a serious note,I thought that they had a console stereo as well. If you don't know what I'm talking about it was a cabinet and when you lift up the top you would see a record player with a radio and perhaps an 8-Track tape player as well. Look very closely in a 1st season episode and see if they had one.

Or it could have been Jan playing that really far-out record album that Marcia was too down in the dumps to listen to with her in "The Subject Was Noses". Or maybe it was Greg playing the album that he almost got into a car accident with when he glanced at the cover (the latest release by the Five Baboons and Elsie, maybe???). But then again Marcia did have that autographed Davy Jones album for her listening pleasure!

I'm pretty sure they didn't get to play those "Roaring 20s" 78 RPM records though ("Can Red Lips Kiss My Blues Away?", "Does Your Spearmint Lose Its Flavor on the Bedpost Overnight?", "Yes We Have No Bananas").

As far as the record player in the girls' bedroom that Cindy used to play her new Shirley Temple record, that may have always been in their bedroom. Remember back in the very first season when Greg barged in on Marcia getting dressed? Marcia had the record player turned up so loud she couldn't hear Greg pounding on the door. The kids then decide they need a bigger house with another bathroom, but eventually have a change of heart (and the girls keep their record player!!!).

Or maybe they ended up buying the record that The Five Monroes were recording when Peter visited Mr. Dimsdale at the recording studio... after all, they were the inspiration for the kids to put their singing group together!
