Default Most moving "M*A*S*H" moment

What moment in M*A*S*H turns you into a big softie?

This episode will be on a lot of lists, but for me it's "Abyssinia Henry." Of course, that final O.R. scene gets to me, but what moves me even more occurs right before it.

Henry gets on the chopper without saying goodbye to Radar, and you see a closeup of Radar saluting, about to cry. That always moves me to tears (as does the following scene, of course).

I try to avoid this topic...it makes me sad just thinking about everything touching on the show, especially B.J.'s goodbye. Heck, that whole episode. Every time it's on, people on another floor can hear me and ask what's wrong. You'd think they'd know by now. Of course, Abyssinia Henry, like you said, and Who Knew?, though I love it and don't quite know why. Goodbye Radar gets me, and Sometimes You Hear the Bullet. Oh, and the scene where the Korean guy dies from the man in the next bed's shooting him. The soldier's face...
As, you can see, many moments affect me; strangely, not much outside the M*A*S*H world does to quite that extent.

Like you said, GFA is probably the most touching episode proabbly just because its 2 1/2 hrs of sadness. The part that really gets me is BJs good bye and the Korean musicians dying. When Charles say something like "music was once a refuge but will now always be a remeinder" that whole scene had me in tears...*sniff*

My favorite weeping episode... is "Death Takes a Holiday"

The moment when BJ says something to Father Mulcahy to the effect of.... "let me keep him alive a few more moments... that way his kids won't have to think of Christmas as the day their daddy died."

And then when BJ can't succeed, Hawkeye screws with the death certificate.

"Goodbye Radar" - Hawkeye BJ and Potter discover Radar's beloved teddybear on Hawkeye's bunk. A wonderful parting salute to a memorable character.

"Old Soldiers" - Potter drinks a last toast to his departed WW1 buddies.

I thought he was squinting in that picture... certainly doesn't look like he's sad.... except maybe in the lips... but that's about it.

My first post.........

I actually have three.
3-When Hawkeye's Dad is in the hospital and he and Charles share a kind moment.

2-When the nurse that was in love with him dies. At the end he is telling everyone he loves them 1 by 1, I tear up.

1-DTAH- When Max takes Charles a plate of food, and tells him it must remain a secret, I just about lose it. That scene, along with the dying soldier, the comparison was just pulling at your heart.............

I have to agree with everyone else. "Abassinya, Henry" is really touching. I get emotional just thinking of Radar's speech in the OR. I also like BJ and Hawkeye's good-bye in "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen."

"Goodbye, Radar," too. It's so hartbreaking when Radar is trying to say goodbye to everyone, but they're all busy taking care of casualties. It just goes to show that the war doesn't stop, even at a time like that.

I always liked that scene between Hawkeye and Charles, when Charles actually calls him "Hawkeye." Very moving.

All of the moments mentioned above always get to me also. One that has not been mentioned is in "The Party." I love the end where Radar reads Peg's letter to everyone in the OR. That scene ALWAYS brings me to tears.

How about the one where their families back home all got together for a party. And Klinger's mom wasn't supposed to know he was in Korea. But she knew. She just didn't want her son to worry about HER.
