Cool Oprah loves Her Audience So Much- She Gave Everybody a New Car

Oprah Audience Given Cars

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Tuesday September 14, 2004

CHICAGO IL -- Oprah Winfrey celebrated the premiere of her 19th season by surprising each of her 276 audience members with a new car. "We're calling this our wildest dream season, because this year on the Oprah show, no dream is too wild, no surprise too impossible to pull off," Winfrey said on the show that aired yesterday.

She said audience members were chosen because their friends or family had written about their need for a new car. One woman's young son said she drove a car that "looks like she got into a gunfight."

Making sure the audience was kept in suspense, Winfrey opened the show by calling 11 people onto the stage. She gave each of them a car -- a Pontiac G6.

She then had gift boxes distributed to the rest of the audience and said one of the boxes contained keys to a 12th car. But when everyone opened the boxes, each had a set of keys.

"Everybody gets a car! Everybody gets a car! Everybody gets a car!" Winfrey yelled as she jumped on the stage.

The audience screamed, cried and hugged each other -- then followed Winfrey out to the parking lot of her Harpo Studios to see their cars, which retail for $28,000 US and were donated by Pontiac.

Yep, I saw that on the news yesterday. What a way to ring in the new season!

I believe it was also announced that Pontiac paid the taxes on all the cars, so none of the audience members had to pay for their new cars.

I wonder if they'll cover the insurance of the cars as well.

She doesn't do it. I feel bad for the people who really are in control of all the **** she gives away, everyone makes her out to be some kind of God. She's just the host. Sponsors, etc etc.

yea she is...she does so much for people, especially charities and stuff. Did anyone else see the ABC special "Oprah in Africa"? That was very touching.

Yeah that was on the front page of my local paper this morning. People in my city (well the city that's right next to us) won cars.

After I went to read this post, I had to check my local paper and there was somebody from here that got a car from Oprah, as well!

Too cool
