I was hoping this would happen sometime. I'll have to wait two years, though. |

About time!
Well, I hope Roy Disney comes back. It's his family's company for crying out loud. |

One reason I'm thrilled about this is because Eisner refuses to release the 1946 classic "Song of the South." Roy Disney supports the release of this film and said that if he was back with the company, the first thing he would do would be to give it a home video release for the first ever in the United States. Months ago he even conducted an online poll about it. I was one of the 1,367 who participated in it.

Eisner did many amazing things while at Disney, but it's time for some new blood to take over.

This is probably a stupid question, but did Roy Disney step down or something?

Because it's censorship. This wasn't just a Disney film. It won a couple of Oscars; an honorary Oscar for James Baskett and Best Song (Zip-a-dee-doo-dah). Today's generation of kids (including myself) have never seen this movie or probably haven't even heard of it, the only source for this film that can be viewed is if we go to Splash Mountain or if you buy the Alice in Wonderland Masterpiece Edition. I don't think it's enough. A classic movie such as this should not be held back because of one man's opinion. I hate censorship when it comes to movies and TV shows and this is no exception. |

Why not now?
You know what they always say: There's no time like the present |

...you know...we had that song on a sing-along tape when I was little...you know what is strange...I never even thought about what movie it was from... Why are they censoring it? Is it racist or something? (A guess based on the name) |

Michael Eisner is leaving the Disney lot by the next two years.
He was the guy who runs the company. As far as you know that Walt Disney died back in 1966, Roy Disney was one of the guys who took over the company. He was an animator, creator of Mickey Mouse, producer and founder of the company. Since the early 80's, he was the president of Paramount before he went to Disney. I always love Disney and the movies and TV. He was the program host for the Disney anthology shows back in the 90's was the revived "Wonderful World of Disney" and back in the late 80's he did served as the host of the "Disney Sunday Night Movie" and "The Magical World of Disney". I was so sad to see him go in the next 2 years. No question about it. The one thing, Brian posted about the movie "Song of the South" that I haven't seen that old Disney in years. I remember back many years ago that the old Disney Channel usually had Vault Disney on? I remember the episode from the first episode of "Disneyland" back in 1954 called "The Disneyland Story", they did have a clip from "Song of the South" where Brer Rabbit has been captured by Brer Fox and Brer Bear where he start singing "Everybody's Got a Laughing Place" as he was about to cook and then both Fox and ear was chased by a beehive and Brer Rabbit would say "I said it was my laughing place, Brer Bear!" That was just the snippet from the movie and it was originally in Black & White (not color) since it was first aired on "Disneyland" back 50 years ago. Brain would like that one. I hope that Wednesday, October 27th will be the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney's first TV show "Disneyland" in "The Disneyland Story". I forgot to tell you, Brian, thanks for the link.

Thank you Disney Gods.
Hopefully this means Disney will start hiring artist's again, because CGI doesn't require talent. |
