Question Bobby's Hair

Why did Bobby's hair change color from brown to red in the 4th season of the show??? I never understood it myself. Was it dyed, naturally changed or what???

Bobby's hair was dyed black during the first few seasons so it would match the hair of the actors playing his father and brothers Sherwood Schwartz was very big on the kids' hair color matching the parents, so you could immediately tell who belongs to whom (I know it sounds stupid, but has anyone ever figured out which kids belong to which parent on "Step by Step"?). Around the fourth year, the characters were pretty clearly established and the hair color was no longer needed (in Schwartz's opinion) as an identifiable trait, so the dying stopped. Mike Lookinland hated it, BTW, so I'm sure that was a factor as well.

Post "Bobby's Hair"

I think that Michael Lookinland wanted to go for the "Jeremy Gelbwaks/Brian Forster" look in the series. Here's how I noticed:

In season 1,Bobby's hair was black(They dyed his hair black in the first season with jet black Clairol hair dye).

In Seasons 2 & 3,his hair went from black to brown.

In Seasons 4 & 5, his hair was his natural reddish-blonde color.

If the show went for a 6th season,Bobby would've had blond hair.

In later years his hair is blond. I am confused. How could his hair naturally turn from the color it is in the picture above to being as blond or even lighter than the girls? I'm assuming he dyed it in later years. Robert Reed's hair color changed also. That picture above is from the last season and his hair is considerably lighter than the other years (or at least when his hair wasn't curly). And as for the actors denying that they didn't perm or body wave their hair that makes very little sense to me, especially Robert Reed whose hair was very straight up to the beginning of the Hawaii episode. When they reached Hawaii his hair suddenly curled up and stayed that way for the rest of his life! I'm guessing Mr Reed pressed his hair straight for all the years before that or had naturally straight hair and then went curly.
