"the bottomline is, a family's a pretty good thing to have".
WOW!! What A Weekend!!! a car chase, apartment torn up, mulitple thugs, major fights with the boyfriend, and a mother. kind of a heavy plate for a telephone receptionist. agnes has her mother for a visit on the way home from a mexican vacation. she beocmes a pawn for a jewel smuggler. in the end, her mom outsmarts everyone. no maddie, and very little dave. but a decent episode. in my opinion, saved by herbert viola. without him, it woulda stunk. never liked imogene coca. but i did like her line about seeing the rug get pulled like they did on "your show of shows". that was a great line for her to say. rating: 5 |

This episode to me is really funny... I just adore that whacky door to door chase scene to the tune of the Overture from William Tell that is an "homage to the golden age of TV comedy."
Yeah, it sucks that this is really not the Moonlighting we bought into with Maddie and David....but as far as diversions go, it is not half bad. This is probably my favorite Agnes/Bert episode. I just love Imogene Coca in this. She is a pefect choice to play Mom Dipesto.... how much she and Agnes look alike and seem alike is uncanny. |

she was a perfect choice for the role of carla.
that's one thing i loved about "the cosby show". they didn't forget the ones who got them where they are now. the cosby show was eat up with performers from way back that helped get tv, theatre, music, and such established for years to come. "moonlighting" done that to a degree. the guest stars may not have been humongus stars of the past, but so many were well known. and they were given good roles to play on moonlighting. in a sense, they were paying homage to old tv. |

I guess a "true fan" wouldn't say this, but I never liked the Agnes/Bert episodes...or any other episode that didn't include Mads and Dave. I suppose I'm a bigger fan of the two of them than the actual show.
I should be stoned for saying that!Honestly, though, the rest of the cast added great moments to certain episodes, but it didn't feel like they should have ever been the centers of attention. |

Glenn Caron says in the pilot DVD that he tried to get other people involved in the show to take some of the weight off of Bruce and Cybill. But the problem was the show WAS Bruce and Cybill. I did like Imogene Coca in this one and I think she was perfect as Agnes' Mom. I liked Agnes and Bert's attempt to banter but it's still not Maddie and David. I think they even did a "Fine, Fine, Good, Good." Agnes' Mom asked her if her bosses were still making each other crazy, which just made us miss them even more.

In my humble little opinion, the chemistry made the show, and without it, ML just wasn't the same. I guess you have to delve into the lives of the supporting cast, though...ya know...once in a Blue Moon. ( I crack myself up. )
