Miles is THE reason I became such a huge jazz lover. I have over 100 of his records & over 30 of his CDs. I had the pleasure of meeting the man on 2 different occasions & saw him play in a couple of NYC jazz clubs in his later years. I could go on forever about Miles Davis, as I type this I'm listening to one of my favorite Miles pieces - "Birth of the Cool"

On one of my DVDs, there's footage of John Lennon playing basketball with Miles Davis in 1971 (during the recording sessions of the Imagine album)!

Miles did an awesome cover of "Imagine" on one of his live albums.

Although it has been awhile since I listened to Miles Davis' music I bought and listened to a great deal of his music for several years. He is one of the reasons why I know that music is a heck of a lot more extraordinary than, "Oops I did it Again".

There was a song at the end of the final episode of "The Cosby Show" where Cliff rang the doorbell and play "If I Were a Bell" by Miles Davis as they danced right out of the studio. That was a great episode from the last minutes of the show.

As AKA said, "Kind of Blue" is a must have, as well as Miles' debut album "Birth of the Cool". Other notable Miles albums are "Circle in the Round", "Cookin", "Miles Ahead", "Sorcerer", "Miles Smiles" and of course "Bitches Brew". Of Miles' later albums, "Star People" is a great listen. Columbia/Legacy's "Essential Miles Davis" is a great collection of Miles numbers and the remastering is superb. Of course it would take 4 or 5 box sets to accurately compile all of Miles' greatest works. Take your pick, the above mentioned albums are all Miles masterpieces that have withstood the test of time. Hope this helps
