TIM & CATHERINE CAPTURE "LINGO" TOURNEY OF CHAMPIONS, DRIVE HOME 2 SUZUKI VERONAS

The pair of Tim and Catherine (last names, as usual, to come from this series from our good friends at GSN) broke a tie on the last word of the final game and won the 2004 - and likely only - "Lingo" Tournament of Champions Monday night.

The couple each won a new Suzuki Verona, added to $10,500 theywon earlier in the tournament - along with the trip.

Their total winnings of $45,998, including the two cars, make the twosome the biggest winners in the history of the cable or syndication version of the word game.

Tim and Catherine defeated the team of Ben and Josh 775-550 in the finals of the three-and-a-half hour tournament marathon on GSN.

The playoffs matched the seven top-winning teams in both money/prizes and speed over the course of the last 65 first-run episodes.

The tournament had been plugged since last year when the series entered what is expected to be its final cycle of first-run episodes.

Despite being one of the network's top-rated originals, the new programming administration at GSN is not developing any traditional game shows, nor has plans to renew existing ones.
