Default "Cool Hand Dave"

"this better be a dream episode"

you know something is up when the intro features agnes and bert.....
agnes tells bert that maddie is pregnant. bert tells dave. dave is frantic to get to chicago after the phones maddie. a man named scott hunley trades places with dave. dave then finds out that the an is an escaped prisoner on his way to the big house.
dave finds out what prison life is all about.

i really like bert's serenading agnes. it was slow, but it was a good rendition of "sexual healing".

i'm also a fan of tracey walter. he does his role really good here.

rating: 6

May favorite part of this episode is the big reveal of the secret.... Bert is about to implode wanting to tell David so bad...but then not wanting to break the trust of Agnes.... but finally it all comes out...and in a hilarious way. David is almost in shock...but recovers nicely to take control and do the right thing. Or so he tries....but the fates are against him and he ends up as hosed as he has ever been.

I admit this one only keeps my interest until David gets handcuffed. I absolutely love Bert so bluntly saying, "Not just anybody, sir. You knocked up the boss!" Priceless! David and Maddie's short conversation on the phone is the last we'll see them talk (even spliced together) until she gets back. Then I like the scene at the airport bar where David talks about throwing pebbles at her window. After that, it kind of loses me.

This is a perfect example of why ML would have never survived if there wasn't such a spark between BW and Cyb.

"Cool Hand Dave" was a very well-written, well-acted episode, if I remember correctly. There wasn't a whole lot wrong with it...except for the fact that there was no chemistry. Of course, that was simply because our leads couldn't get close enough for that chemistry to actually exist.

Don't get me wrong; I liked this episode. Loved the whole prison mix-up! (Didn't the guard start whistling the ML theme? ) The magic just wasn't there...because it never had the opportunity.

Of course! That's why I love Dave! Even when Mads wasn't there, he still had his eye on the romance.

After weeks of waiting at last abc1 have aired an episode I hadn't seen before at a time when I could watch. Yippee

And I quite enjoyed it too. And I too loved Bert's breaking of the news "Not just anybody, sir. You knocked up the boss!", yes that is priceless.

Now I am annoyed cause part II should be shown next Sunday and I can't watch cause I am moving house next weekend and won't have my TV set up till the engineer comes round later in the week

lmao @ 'you knocked up the boss!' Bert has some really great lines. I'm not a great fan of the Agnes and Bert episodes, but I do think Bert has some really funny moments. I liked the episode when he was hiding under Maddie's desk.

Cool Hand Dave was today? I keep forgetting it's on on Sunday's again. I was out shopping. I liked this one, but wasn't fussed on part 2.

Love Gem

Ohhh Part II has that wonderful dream/fantasy Gilbert and Sullivan Pirates of Penzance sorta dance by the inmates. I really like that. And then the end when David gets out and gets home to play his messages....the one from Maddie is really good. I like how he rewinds and plays the end a couple of times to hear her tell him she loves him.
