Default Non-original music in season 1 DVD set

Did anyone else notice this? Sorry if it was already mentioned in another post. The Sleeping Beauty music from "The Sleeping Cutie" and the phonograph music for the Standells in "Far Out Munsters" isn't the original music. I'm guessing it's some sort of copyright issue thing, but it's kind of annoying they'd change it for these DVD's. I guess I don't get why TV Land would be able to use the real music, while Universal wouldn't.

That is the real music. It's just that TV Land cuts so many scenes that they have to redo the music to sound right over the edited parts. The Season 1 DVD, has the complete and original length. I guarantee you, nothing in it is edited.

No, it was not the original music. TV Land did not edit out these scenes that use this music from these two episodes.

The music in "The Sleeping Cutie" is an adaption on that "Some Day My Prince Will Come" song, so I doubt TV Land would go through the trouble of getting the copyright on a real song to replace some background music because of editing.

Trust me, TV Land messes up the themes constantly and what they use couldn't be the original.

If you're one of the editing operators, why have you been making such a big deal about seeing uncut footage? Wouldn't you have already seen it by now since you've apparently edited so much? And I do doubt that TVLand would gain the copyright to a real song to replace a generic background track when they could easily just use another generic background track. Also, TVLand uses syndication prints which are also in circulation with local television stations. These stations also play the "Some Day My Prince Will Come" song, so it's obvious it's not just TVLand replacing music for their editing purposes. I don't even recall the scene in question being cut, anyway.

I used to deliver the copies. Not exactly edit the episodes. I'm sorry for that confusion. I got tired of that business and became a car dealer. BTW, if that is the true story with the music rights, there would be no point because we can just record them from TV, then have them transferred to DVD.

Universal making money off of a television show by releasing it on DVD is different than you recording an episode off of tv. It's not like the song is banned from ever being on DVD media, it's the fact that Universal would be using copyrighted material.

I hope they don't screw up with the Season 2 set. I know for a fact that TV Land does screw up the Season 2 opening theme song. They combine the opening theme, with the opening transition, to make a longer theme.

Although in "Happy 100th Anniversary," the TV Land version features the theme song without the "door crashing" noise, and also doesn't combine the theme song with the title theme.

That's strange that they would do that with 1 out of 32 episodes.

Another episode that doesn't use the original music is all the phonograph/dance music in "Dance With Me, Herman" on the DVD's.

I guess it doesn't really matter that much, but it just kind of irks me.

Just checked out "Far Out Munsters". I wonder why they'd change only one of the pieces of music. It's obvious the group is singing what is heard judging by the lip sync. It's fun to hear "I Want to Hold Your Hand" by another group of the same era.
