Since the birth of the Sugarcult thread I could see this was an inevitabilty so here it is.......
THE ATARIS THREAD!!! I'm pleased to see some other Ataris fans here. I got into the band just over a year ago. I was going through some really screwed-up stuff regarding a close (or so I thought!) friend of mine and the band's lyrics really hit home for me. I had heard 'Teenage Riot' several months before, but after seeing the video for their cover of 'Boys Of Summer' on ScuzzTV I decided to buy 'So Long Astoria'. Before long I had all their albums including 'Look Forward To Failure' and 'Let It Burn' (the split CD they did with Useless I.D.). The first - and so far, only - time I saw The Ataris play live was at the Barrowlands in Glasgow on Friday 27 February 2004. I've been to a lot of gigs in my time but this one was undoubtably the best. The crowd were great and, despite some technical glitches, the band were fantastic. I also have no shame in admitting that I came very close to tears when they played 'Road Signs & Rock Songs'. I know, I know - I'm a wuss. Thoughts, anyone? (I mean thoughts on the band - NOT thoughts about me being a wuss!)

I LOVE The Ataris beyond belief. Such a great band. Their lyrics have helped me through so much... my favorite song is "The Hero Dies in This One"

I'm also a huge fan of The Ataris. I bought So Long, Astoria last fall, and they've been my favorite band ever since. Shortly after that I bought End Is Forever (which is probably my favorite album of all time) and the rest of the Ataris albums. Lyrically, I think they're awesome. Songs like My Hotel Year, Fast Times at Drop-out High, and most of So Long, Astoria have such deep and relatable lyrics. I'm so happy I found the Ataris.. they've truly made a huge impact on my life. (ehh, I know that sounds corny) My favorite songs of theirs are My Hotel Year, Between You and Me, Fast Times at Drop-out High, Summerwind was Always our Song.. lol I could keep going...
Its great to see some more Ataris fans.

I used to like them.
Well, I liked a girl that liked them at least, so i dont know how legitimate my really liking them for a while was. At any rate, I got far over the pop-punk scene fast |
