Default Cosby dad nicer than BMW dad?

In the Cosby Show when Sandra and Alvin (?) got married and lived in a rundown apartment, Cliff gave them money for a new one. But Alan refused to let Cory stay with him and didn't offer any money for an apartment. Makes me wonder if he's a cheapskate.

He said in that episode that it was because no one helped him and he has a good relationship with his wife.

I don't think it's because he's a cheapskate, Cory said he was ready to get married, but did he fully think that through? My dad wouldn't have helped if it were me cause he felt if I was ready for the responsiblity of marriage, then I was ready for the responsibility to help support myself and my spouse and vice versa.

IMO Sandra and Elvin had it too easy

No, It's just the Cosby Show is unrealistic, and BMW is more realistic.

Sondra and Elvin IMO didn't face much responsibility, times got tough, they got to live with mommy and daddy, they never could seem to support themselves, that's why they seemed to live with Claire and Cliff more than they lived on their own

At least Cory and Topanga tried to make it on their own(and succeeded)

I agree that the Cosby Show is unrealistic but BMW can be pretty unrealistic as well

My parents would have let me stay with them or lent me money. (Of course I'll pay them back) I know my mom would never let me live where Cory and Topanga lived. Geez their apartment looks like the set for Survivor:Philadelphia.

Don't get me wrong. I love the show.

My parents would say if you're ready for the responsibility of marriage, then you're ready to live on your own.

I have to agree, Cory and Topanga wanted to get married, and it wasn't Amy and Alan's place to support them
